How fragile life is, and the good seem to die young.  Never knew the gent, but clearly these remarks about him are a fine tribute.  Deepest sympathy to family and friends.

Just chatting with him Wednesday about how his amazing hospitality makes the drive up to Kansas for the showdown such an easy trip.  His passion and his fundamentally gracious nature has been truly impressive.  He will be missed by those who have had the fortune to know such a fine man.

Major was my good friend and travelin' buddy for many years. We came in SASS about the same time and hit it off quickly. He was much more than a friend. He had become affectionately, my little brother. His heart was full. He loved this game, his family and his girlfriend, and his dogs (Travis was a huge animal lover). He was indeed one to ride the river with and my travels with him were better because of him being there. He had a passion for this game, for this life and for everything that matters. He will be missed.

Love ya, little brother. Rest in Peace.

Sorry you lost your friend. Major was the Classic Cowboy. I spoke with him occasionally, we did some trading. All around good cowboy.

My world was rocked this morning at 11:18 when I received a call at work from Major Art Tillery’s mom telling me had died in a tragic car crash on his way to work this morning.

Travis was one of my best friends in this world. He was a fierce competitor of mine in the Classic Cowboy category. We went back and forth beating each other for years.

We told everyone we were cousins. In fact, I loved him like a bother. We traveled together to Winter Range in 2019 along with our other “brother” - “Dantankerous.” He was a guest in my home on many occasions. He camped with me at Land Run this past October in the RV. We ate together, talked and texted frequently and even occasionally prayed together. The world is a smaller place now my friend. You’ve left a huge hole in it.

We shot together in Nebraska, Arizona, Oklahoma, Iowa, Texas, and Kansas. I will miss him immensely until I see him again. Rest easy pard. Give my best to all my other previously departed lead slinging friends, especially CoJack and. Mr. Finger.

I’ll see ya when my number’s called.

Sorry to hear this terrible news.  I met Major one time at Chapman Ks.   He was very friendly and welcoming.   Prayers up for his family and cowboy pards.

The Magnificent Seven was dealt a heartbreaking blow today. Major epitomized the spirit of the Classic Cowboy. He was very much involved in promoting CC and SASS. He will be very much missed.

Truly, a sad day for us all.

Not generally the news one wants to see, ever, but particularly first thing in the morning. I didn't know him personally, but from his posts and our interactions here, he was someone I respected, and I would've enjoyed shooting with. To those who were close to him, my deepest condolences.

Major was first and foremost a gentleman, always positive with a ready smile and handshake. Our club in Chapman Kansas has been deprived of a great cowboy and wonderful friend. I pray for his family and all of our friends who will miss him for the rest of our lives. Rest easy nephew .

Prayers Up for his family and all who knew him.  I only knew him through the wire, but we should all consider ourselves to have been blessed buy his association with this game.  He will be missed by one and all.

From the first time I met Major he embodied the saying "come for the shooting but stay for the people". He always had time for a handshake and a discussion...always had a smile on his face - you could just tell he loved shooting cowboy! A friendly competitor and a good sport. I never heard a negative thing spoke by him and he always encouraged other shooters to do their best. He truly was the embodiment of all things cowboy and he loved doing it!

Major, you were an inspiration to us all...maybe someday I'll be half the cowboy you were.

Prayers for Machelle Dawn and the family.

I have kind of a mental list of folks I would not only like to meet but shoot with too. Major was on the list.

I did get to meet him and Dantankerous at Comin' at Cha. Pair of fine fellers there. And Pony Soldier made three of a kind.

Prayers for Major's family, friends and Cowboy family. I know how deep those feelings can run.

Sad news indeed. Tough to believe. Never met him in person. But, did some horse trading with him about 12 years ago. I always liked his posts.

Prayers for all his family and friends. RIP Major

Mere words cant express this feeling of loss. You touched so many lives in such a wonderful positive way. I always enjoyed shooting with you at the monthly matches as well as the bigger shoots; running on the same posse. See ya later Major, we will see you again!!
