Your favorite Hollywierd horse

Recommended Posts

So you're poking around an old west ghost town, find an old whisky bottle, and rubbing the dirt off the label you summon a cowboy genie. He will grant you one wish.....you can have any TV/movie western horse you want. Which would you take? Silver, Trigger, Topper, or something else. Here's mine, it was love at first sight. Cochise.

Cowboy wise, I'd chose Buck... the buckskin that Matt Dillon and Pa Cartwright shared.

Just a handsome beast, reliable, stout, and no gimmicks.  ;)

I always liked Little Joe's,  Pinto.

I think one was named Old Paint and the other Cochise.

I don't know which was which, but my favorite had the white stripe down the face (nose).

..........Widder

Sam Elliott rode a roan horse in The Quick and the Dead. Rode the same horse for a short time in Conagher.( Not his main horse in the movie). Rode him again in Buffalo Gals. Always liked that horse but never knew his name.

No idea of the name but that little black one that Zorro rode in the TV series.

Toranado. Pretty sure that means tornado in Spanish.

Hot To Trot, the horse in the last race in the movie “Let It Ride.”

I always wanted a horse that would wink at me when I bet on him.  :)

It's hard to pick a favorite, but here's my candidates:

Cisco's pinto

Jimmy Stewart's Pie

Glenn Ford's chestnut (with flaxen mane and tail)

Randolph Scott's Stardust (or was that Starlight?)

Clint Eastwood's grey in Pale Rider (I'm a sucker for greys)

My first thought was Khartoum from Godfather 1, but  I was afraid it would lead to beating a dead horse.

It's headed that way...

+1 for Hidalgo.

Just give me Ginger back.  You could shoot off her.  She would pack any game including a bear.  Load a kid on her and she was so gentle when they would fall off she would look before she would move.  She wasn't fast but she could work stock and she never headed  for the other end of the pasture when you showed up with the bridle.  She was a big horse, a Morgan, let me walk her up to the fence to climb aboard.  Yep, just give me Ginger back.
