Howdy,

Whats fun?

Easy shootin and accurate.  Not too much recoil.

Fun.

Whats your top three shooters just for fun.....or four....ok ok but there has to be a limit.....

Mine? 1911 in 9.

1022 turned way way up.

Most any lever rifle...Henry  probably edges out the others.  Cheep ammo.

No single action revolver?  Ive just shot so many a little of the novelty has worn off.....sorta.

and picking one is hard.

Best

Always enjoy shooting .22 rimfire with MANY different guns.

I like shoot my 1911's in 10mm.   And, I enjoy my 1911's in the .460 Rowland.   Those are a beast yet they are not intimidating

with recoil.

I don't really enjoy shooting HEAVY recoiling shoulder rifles.

..........Widder

Top Four:

1.  Sharps Model 1874 - any caliber

2. Colt Single Action - any caliber

3. Hawken .54 cal.

4. Colt 1911 .45 a.c.p., made in 1918.

I’d agree almost verbatim except to add my 1950s vintage Marlin 39a.

:lol::lol::lol:

I have read so very much over so many years that I have many anecdotes and quotes and no clear recollection where they came from, so forgive me if I paraphrase a gun scribe from long years past:

That's kind of like asking a Sheik to pick his favorite from his hareem: all have their charms, but certain ones have certain skills which set them apart from the others."

Everything I've shot was fun, in one way or another, even the .45-70 fired from a sitting position ... I was maybe nine or ten, I started out with the barl parallel to the ground and when she went BOOM I ended up flat on my back with the barl pointed to the zenith!
Long powerful shove, not painful, just surprising ... but this many years later, I look back on the moment and laugh, so it too was fun!

Mk 19

M119

M2

But since I'm retired...

Out of my own collection, and in no specific order:

Winchester 9422M in .22 WMR

Browning BT99 shooting trap

Colt 1911 in 9mm

The top two - the Winchester and Browning - I have often said if I were homeless and living in my car I would still have them.

That is an interesting concept. ;)

Which part? What guns I would have if homeless, or those particular guns?

Really enjoy by 22/45 with a red dot sight.  That's hoot.  Similar with a 10/22.

You just made me realize. I do need to add one. The Ruger PC9 carbine with a red dot. I always have a grin when I shoot it, and have let others shoot it at the range with the same effect.

The most fun - Spencer!:D

But also in no particular order:

  • Broomhandle Mauser
  • 1860 Henry
  • 1887 Winchester
  • S&W Schofield
  • and many more

Least fun - AR-15. It's OK but it is rather boring to shoot.

It was not made to accept the cartridge but Buffalo Juan accepted the challenge and produced a working custom rifle.  It is fun to shoot for some folks.
