Big matches for 2018: your plans

Widder, SASS #59054

Recommended Posts

Well, 2018 is just around the corner and right now, here are my only plans to travel for 2018.

1.  SouthWest Regional in Oklahoma:   April  (never been there.  Red Knee invited me out for a good visit)

2.  BLACK GOLD:   June or July (?)  (the ONLY thing missing from last years match was Ice Cream bars)   Great match, great folks, perfect venue.

3.  TN State:   October   (Wartrace is just a fantastic place and the Wartrace Regulators put on fantastic side match, main match, door prizes, and banquet.

There are a couple other matches I would like to attend, but for now, I can't make definite plans for those.

Hope to see some of  Y'all on the dusty trail.

..........Widder

Virginia State Black Powder Championship, Smoke on the Mattaponi XI near West Point, VA.  I look forward to it all year, every year and I was heartbroken to miss it this year.  No way I'll miss it in 2018!

Well, now that I live 10 minutes from the range, I can't think of any legitimate excuse for missing Guns of August :D, been invited to the Nebraska State shoot but that's still up in the air...and would LUV to go to Black Gold....gonna try to make that one happen...

Howdy Mick,

Grab your pencil and add Father Time in Rocky Mt. to your go to list.  Should be May 5 & 6.

In addition to the ones you mentioned I'm planning to go to GA State in mid May

Don't guess I'll be able to make it to WV State next year as I'll be going to Hell Fire in Quitman, LA followed by Comin' at Cha in English, TX both in Sept.

btw, hope to see ya tomorrow at the Dbl-C for shooting and chili.  Hope someone will bring the cornbread.  Chili without cornbread is like trying to eat pizza with no beer.

Not going to be able to make it tomorrow and shoot with the Cavalier Cowboys. I'm fresh out of cornbread. Sounds like a good excuse. <_<

Had not thought about Father Time. Will have to go with a definite maybe on that.

Getting old and can't really see across the room but that's ok cuz I can barely walk that far and when I do I generally can't figure out why I did.  Memory  doesn't work but then several things don't.  Got arthritis in my hands, back and shoulders and talk to myself but often get good answers.  So if you see me at these gatherings and I look a little lost just point me toward Pat and she may claim me.

Gathering of the Posse"s

Fire and Ice

Winter Range

Four Corners Regional

End of Road

Utah War

Montezuma's Revenge

End of Trail

Hell on Wheels

Utah State

Montana State

Idaho State

Northwest Regional

Revenge

Dam site / Nevada State

Senior Games

For sure: Winter Range, EOT and the New Mexico State match (I'll run a side match of my own design.)

Possibles: Utah State, Colorado State and a major match (TBD) in October.  Much depends on when my wife's employer will give her time off work.

I was planning on making winter range this year but since I started this new job I don't think I'll get the time off. I'm definitely camping out at the West Virginia championships again! (Heads up, 4th weekend in September Fri, Sat, Sun) I wouldn't miss that shoot for the world!
