Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 A recent thread got me to thinking about a conversation I had years ago called, "how many cylinders do you have?" The criteria is to count the number of internal combustion engines you own -- cars, tools, yard implements, boats etc. For example, my Jeep counts as 6 cylinders and the snow thrower counts as 1. I have 23. How about you?
Kulshan 20262 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 About 26 counting some model airplane engines.
Tom Bullweed Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 2 cars 1 pickup 1 mower 1 edger 2 chain saws 7 total One of the cars is a Prius, but I counted it anyways. Seems like it should be a fraction.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I think that Utah Bob just went over the top today.
Injun Ryder, SASS #36201L Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 2 Plus 2 Plus 6 Plus 2 Rotors!
DocWard Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 If my math is correct, and including Mrs. Doc's car, 23. 25 if you count the two air compressors I own, which have cylinders as well.
Boon Doggle Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 It's not about how many you have (46), but if you are firing on all of them.
Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted February 4, 2016 Author Posted February 4, 2016 2 cars 1 pickup 1 mower 1 edger 2 chain saws 7 total One of the cars is a Prius, but I counted it anyways. Seems like it should be a fraction. Not 7 total items. I assume the cars and truck are multiple cylinders?

I think he's got 100 cylinders just for all of those cap and ball Remmies he owns. To answer the OP's question, about 24 but I may be forgetting some of the stuff in the back of the garage.
Badlands Bob #61228 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I've only got 18. I feel kind of inadequate
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 2 vehicles x 4 cylinders each = 8.

Finagler 6853 Life Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I'm embarrassed to admit it, 72 not including the youngest sons and youngest daughters cars that we still hold the title to. That would be 12 more. I obviously need to thin the herd. Anyone want to buy a riding lawn mower? Cheap!
Dorado Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 6- 8cyl 1- 6 1- 5 2- 4 9- 1 So somewhere around 74 cylinders. Most are from my classic cars and the spare engines I have. If I'm not forgetting one or two which I probably am. I like engines, especially old ones that work and are easy to fix when they don't. A better break down would be 1 - 289 2 - 327 1 - LQ4 1 - 390 1 - 7.3 Ford diesel 1 - whatever comes in a toyota 4-runner 1 - whatever 5 cylinder comes in a Colorado 1 - L head 134.2 4 cylinder out of my Willys MB 1 - whatever 4 cylinder is in my boat 9 - numerous small engines, lawnmower, edger, chainsaw, model airplanes, etc.
Capt. R. Hugh Kidnme Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I am lacking. Only 14. Since the move to VA, I jettisoned a lawn tractor and a snow blower.
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 As in wop wop wop. Some of us prefer the term "Dago", thank you very much.
Trailrider #896 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Do I count the ones on my HO scale model railroad steam locomotives?
Utah Bob #35998 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Do I count the ones on my HO scale model railroad steam locomotives? Steam is not internal combustion. Disallowed. 5 yard penalty. : D
