And what would you do with it after spending 3 million?  Nobody really wanted to go to this part of NM before, except to go to EOT.  So now who could you attract to go there and spend their hard earned money?  It sure ain't ritzy Santa Fe where the rich and famous go.  And folks wonder why when SASS went there a LOT of us called it "Flounders Ranch".   Thanks Chiseler and Tex for convincing the other Wild Bunch BOD to move SASS HQ and EOT to "NOWHERE" New Mexico.  Would have been much smarter in 2004 to relocate to somewhere near Las Vegas.  Cheaper air fares, cheaper hotels, still would have attracted the spectators, with there money for the vendors, from CA.  "Hey honey that EOT thing is in Las Vegas, it's only a short drive from LA, you want to go.  Sure, you can go and watch the shooting stuff, and I'll go to the casinos."  NO, let's move to "God For Bid" NM because there's a buffalo on the property.

I heard that the sale fell through, but do not know any details.

Those pictures bring back a lot of fond memories. I looked forward to that trip every year.

Why did they move?

The New Mexico state government was very aggressive during the peak of the COVID pandemic and closed many "non-essential" businesses.  Even outdoor facilities like state parks, golf courses and shooting ranges were locked down.  Many small businesses, especially restaurants closed for good.  FR closed at this time.

So wait, you're saying if I hit the Mega Millions or Power Ball and bought it, I could have my own private shooting ranges, Mrs. Doc could have some place to ride her horse, and we'd have nearly 500 acres, plus fencing to keep out unwanteds? I would only have to deal with people IF I wanted? I'm sure I could figure out something to do with an "event center."

You can still get nice rural properties, many with power and good wells for a fraction of that.  A question of doing the leg work, and whether you want structures in place or to build.  It is worth every bit of the trouble and expense.

Seems I can't get my timing right on any of my jokes today...

What's wrong with the water wells it lists as being on it?

Flounders Ranch is in left wingnut, liberal, socialist, communist, Antifa, etc., whacko Democrat controlled New Mexico.

Need any other information about why not to even go there.

And on another subject, I am crying my heart out at what's happening to my beautiful Arizona.  We are becoming "California East."

So sad, so sad.

BTW, ex the buildings, ranges are just dirt work which can be had inexpensively in farm / ranch country.  Everyone has big machines to pay for.

Nope, on second thought... It's the timing or something... The humor just isn't clicking with the crowd. I'll keep working on it!

You have to be a little familiar with western water rights.  Basically a problem from day one at FR was that they only had a permit for one domestic well.  There is no water for cattle or farming.

I recall studying that in law school, but that was pushing thirty years ago. From what I recall though, more than a bit of a headache.

Known as the Doctrine of Prior Appropriation.  You can have a river running through your property but not be entitled to take a drop of water from it.
