Rye Miles #13621 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I just bought a 25# bag of lead magnum shot No.7 for $41.99 plus tax!! OUCH!!! Seems kinda high…what say you?? Rye
Jackson Rose, SASS #45478 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I don't know where you bought it, but the last time I looked at Cabela's it was 56.00. 3 years ago I bought 10 bags for 40 a bag.
Hurricane Deck 100366 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Paid roughly the same for #8 at Wal-Mart about two weeks ago. It's high compared to past prices, but this appears to be the new norm.
Driftwood Johnson, SASS #38283 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 $48/bag near here. Yup, it's kinda high, particularly when I remember complaining about $28 a bag just a few years ago. But that's what it costs.
Cowboy Rick, SASS #49739L Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 About 5 years ago it jumped from $15/$18 a bag to $25 - then quickly to $35. After that, whatever the market would bear. Good prices are under $40 these days. CR
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 For the price of market lead having recently fallen to a 4 year low of under 85 cents a pound, we're not seeing that yet in the retailers. Most around here are still getting $44 a bag and banking the bonus markup from the $1.10 a pound days. Good luck, GJ
Southpaw Gringo, SASS # 74217 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Yep its the sign of the times Pards. I was getting reclaimed shot from Badman bullets there for a while at 36 bucks a bag delivered. They no longer have any. I always used Rotometals as a gauge for lead shot prices. There shot new and reclaimed jump up there also. FYI, A bag of lead shot at our lacal Bass Pro Shops is 55 bucks!! http://www.rotometals.com/Lead-Shot-s/64.htm
Rance - SASS # 54090 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 My local gun & ammo swap shop her in central Illinois is still at $39.00 a bag.. He always claims he's not in business to gouge folks.. Just stay in business... Rance Thinkin' he's still in business;)
Fast Enuff Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 About $40 a bag, when it's even available. Major retailers are $50+.
Mink Shoals Bandit, #49388 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Cabelas and gouger Mountain around $53.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I buy from here- Watch for the sales-- http://www.rotometals.com/Lead-Shot-s/64.htm OLG
Pit Bull Tex Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I have alway bought it from a guy in FL. he has alway been the cheapest shipped to my house in TX. Here is his email address trapshot28@gmail.com .Don't know what the price is today.I alway email and ask the price before I order.I bought 200# about 2 months ago.
Preacherman Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Got a pal hauling me some from PA at $35.75, 1,200 miles to FL to save a couple of bucks? Crazy!
Blue Wolf , SASS# 29424L Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 You could try www.zipmetals.com
Lunger Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Worth every nickel, if the sg target tips over!
StirrupTrouble Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 My LGS sells for about $42.50 a bag, though around November he got a really good deal and passed it onto customers for $38.50. If I had more cash I would have stocked up, but at least I got one bag at that price
Charlie Whiskers Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 If you have any trap and skeet clubs in your area and know any folks that are members, see if they can get you a few bags. Most clubs like that buy in bulk by the pallet. I use all reclaimed shot. I get it for $23-25 a bag.
Pit Bull Tex Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Mr. Warner emailed me this morning and it has gone up some but it is $87.00 for 50# shipped from Fl. to Texas, trapshot28@gmail.com That is new shot.I order 7 1/2s but he has 7s .
Trailboss (Santa) Dave Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 A local shotgun club had some shot that had gotten wet, I picked up 4 bags of 71/2 at $20.00 each.
Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Around EOT time I bought some reclaimed at a local trap club for $20 a bag. It's almost gone. Locally virgin shot is $43 a bag though you can pay more. I'm not complaining. I only need shot for black powder rounds. For smokeless powder shells I just buy promo rounds from a big box retailer. With the price of gasoline dropping by 50% over the last few months my overall cost of attending a CAS match is way down. Year 2015 looks like a promising year for out-of-town matches,
SHOOTIN FOX Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I sell 7.5 shot for 37.50 a bag plus shipping. PM me for details Fox
Rio Brazos Kid Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 In the Houston area it's 28.50 for reclaimed, and 38.50 for new Star Shot. Reclaimed is plenty good for CAS use. RBK
Grouchy Greg, SASS#71981 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 It's around $45 to $50 a 25 pound bag in these parts.
Smokestack SASS#87384 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I pay $38.00 for 25# new shot and $25.00 for 25# reclaimed.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 Okay thanks, seems to be about the same all over! Oh well, still cheaper than buying factory sg shells. Rye
Taquila Tab, Sass #25048 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I bought four 25# bags Monday of this week for $37.50 each.
Harvey Mushman Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Reclaimed is plenty for CAS. New Magnum shot is waaaaay overkill ($$$$). Even for trap (16yd line) and skeet, I use reclaim unless an ATA shoot, as reclaim generally has some greater than 7 1/2 which is max legal for trap.
Your Nemesis Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Just bought 21 bags of new shot for 25.00 a bag. just could not turn it down.
I. M. Crossdraw, SASS# 8321 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Dang! That's quite expensive. I paid 17.95 a 25# new shot. But that was a few years ago. I admit, I was hoarding.
Diamond S Doug Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I just bought a 25# bag of lead magnum shot No.7 for $41.99 plus tax!! OUCH!!! Seems kinda high…what say you?? Rye Hasn't been that cheap here in about 8 years. $53 at Cabellas, 49 at Sportsman's.
Jackrabbit Joe #414 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Howdy Charlie Whiskers & Happy New Year. See you at the shoot in Great Fall's. J&J
Charlie Whiskers Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Howdy Charlie Whiskers & Happy New Year. See you at the shoot in Great Fall's. J&J Happy New Year to both of you too. Looking forward to swapping lies with you again this year. Maybe at Dam Site or Sage Brush this spring. The Mt State shoot has a new host this year if you haven't heard.
