Caliope Cupcake #13981 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I'VE HAD MY SHARE OF BOTH [MOSTLY COKE] AND USUALLY GO WITH DIET TO REDUCE SUGAR INTAKE. THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, I HAVE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THE FIZZ FACTOR BETWEEN BOTH. WHEN I BUY THE 2-L BOTTLE, THE COKE GOES FLAT IN A DAY, BUT THE PEPSI STAYS FIZZY FOR 4 DAYS.
Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Coke... Favorite drink of monsters...!
Texas Lizard Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Don't care...I do not drink any of that stuff...Never, don't like the taste...Give me a cold beer... TL
Furious Fritz Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 So, you´re able to shoot the fizzy Pepsi within 4 days and the can will lift up
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Last year I had many, many trash bags and cans full of aluminum cans for recycling, mostly crushed so there was really a lot, three Tacoma loads. They were mostly black and silver, Guinness, Coke Zero and Diet Coke. There were less than 0.1% other beverages. I had bought a plane ticket for my friend to get out of Crimea after the Russians took over. Sveta came to my house to help clean the house. She was here for a week. On one of my trips to the transfer station I saw that a bag of cans had blown out of someone's vehicle and was strewn across the lawn of our new police station. We have maybe 8 full time officers. I just knew that some wanna be detective would spend hours trying to find a finger print and tracking it down, so I did a Uturn to pick up the cans. "Oh, look, red white, and blue. Pepsi! I'm outta here! They are not mine!"
Four-Eyed Buck,SASS #14795 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Pepsi. Although now, I'm on Pepsi Max to help with the A1c
Tom Bullweed Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Live in NC, the birthplace of Pepsi. Prefer Coke. Will occasionally have Pespi with salted peanuts (poured inside the Pepsi bottle, a local thing to do). Really prefer tha Cokes that I have had in China that are sweetened with semi-bleached sugar instead of corn syrup.
Chili Ron Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Howdy, I find diet pop tastes really ugly. God gave us taste buds to help us avoid spoiled food and some poisons. Adding rum to diet pop makes for even uglier drink. At the Wisconsin state fair I once took the pepsi challenge. I walked up to the booth and a lovely young thing asked my favorite drink. Coors, saz I. Oh this should be interesting. saz she. Two small cups of pop were presented. I drank each. I pointed to one and said that tasted real good. Coke. hahaha. I like RC too....or was that CR(crown royal). Best CR ....just a coincidence ? You be the judge.
Tyrel Cody Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Diet Pepsi @CR: Gotta disagree, I love Captain Morgan Rum and Diet Dr. Pepper.
Blackwater 53393 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 COKE!! If I wanted something flat and sweet, I wouldn't have married Schoolmarm!! I don't like any of it from plastic bottles. I can taste the plastic!! Cans or glass for me, please. A well adjusted fountain machine is good too!! My second choice is RC!!!
Smoken D Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Might have one once a month, and that would be diet pepsi. Try and stay away from all those drinks.
Henry T Harrison Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I buy the cola that is on sale one is as good as the other
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I buy the cola that is on sale one is as good as the other The price wars are just before the big weekends, Labor Day, 4th of July, etc. I think Super Bowl weekend had the biggest discounts.
Chili Ron Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Howdy, Best cola is the stuff they sell at McDonalds. I think they sell so much it is always extra fresh. Never tried the diet there. Best CR
DocWard Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I drink diet colas. The regular versions are too syrupy and sweet for my taste. Given my choice, though, I will usually opt for Vernor's Ginger Ale. On occasion I will grab a Root Beer.
Sparky Nelson Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I saw recently that Pepsi has "introduced" a variety in our area that is sweetened with cane sugar instead of corn sweetener. I've tried it and can't really tell the difference. But it's a marketing scam anyway. Pepsi made for the Mexican market (which we're always able to get here because there's a large Puerto Rican population) is also made with sugar. My preference is diet Pepsi unless I'm in Canada, then it's diet Coke. (Diet Pepsi there rumbles my stomach a little bit.) About the only non-diet pop I drink is Dr. Pepper. Fun fact: when I worked at a grocery store in high school, one of my jobs was stocking the outdoor pop machines. When it got really cold in the winter the last kind of pop to freeze was Dr. Pepper. It'd stay liquid down to about -18F.
Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Diet or Regular Coke. I don't mind when I put an unfinished can in the refrigerator, it goes flat, and I drink it the next day.
Eamon Chute Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Back when I did drink the stuff it was most likely a Pepsi. Now........ Ice Tea. Lemon, no sugar. EC
Cliff Hanger #3720LR Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I have never liked the taste of artificial sweeteners. That may be from trying it when it was first introduced and really didn't taste sweet like sugar. Many years ago, I learned the artificial sweeteners are not diet but just the opposite. In order...Dr Pepper, Pepsi, Mountain Dew When I have soda, I will drink a little and place it back in the fridge. I'll take a drink here and it may take a few days to finish it. Currently no soda in the house for over three years. I do have a soda once in a while when in town and have lunch. Coke Cola...something about Coke Cola makes my teeth fillings react and give off a funny copper taste. No Coke for me. -------------------------------------- Artificial Sweeteners could be sabotaging your diet
JudgeBagodonuts Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 The bottled coke that's available today in most parts of the US is "new coke" with the old label. If you want the real stuff, sweetened with sugar, you need to buy the bottles from Mexico. Before I stopped drinking soda, I used to get the Mexican Coca Cola in bottles from a local Mexican grocery store here in the Philadelphia suburbs. When I stopped drinking soda (2-3 glasses a day), I lost 20 pounds.
Smuteye John SASS#24774 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Coke. With RC coming in second. If given a choice, I don't drink Pepsi at all. Most of the time, I drink sweet tea. Around here, every dark colored soft drink that is not Dr Pepper is generically referred to as 'Coke'. I drove by the place where Dr Pemberton received the wound that led to his development of Coca Cola and the site of the pharmacy where RC started just yesterday.
Calico Mary Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 only way I'll drink Coke iz ifn' there's rum in it, otherwise it's gotta be Pepsi or I start looking fer root beer or just plain water....ifn' all there is ta drink iz Coke and there's no rum available I'd rather go thirsty.....
J-BAR #18287 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Coke. But when you are in Waco, Texas you gotta go to the Dr. Pepper museum and try a DP made with cane sugar. Wow!
Calamity Kris Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Pepsi, please, with real sugar. I used to drink RC quite a bit. I had a horrific caffeine withdrawl headache when I stopped drinking so much and never went back. Now, I don't drink much soda at all. I keep Sieara Mist or Virgil's Ginger Brew around for the occasional stomach ache {or Uno wants a dark and stormy}. Other than that, water or tea sweetened with real sugar. Artificial sweetners give me heartburn and I can't stand the taste.

Seems to have more carbonization, too, but I can't prove that. Won't drink Pepsi.
The Yankee Bandit, SASS #59258 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 A coke over crushed ice is my favorite.
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Coke smells better then Pepsi :-) But I prefer RC cola :-)
Lt John Dunbar Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Any cola that arrives here at Ft Sedgwick is a real treat. The standard fare is coffee or tea. The arrival of whiskey is a special occasion, celebrated with....whiskey! Whiskey and cola only arrived together one time. Now that was a treat. Too bad there's no ice most of the year......well, not really! JJD
Palmetto Traveller Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Dr Pepper if I'm drinking soda alone. Pepsi with a large helping of a good dark spiced rum. A popular drink in this area is Cherry Dr Pepper and spiced rum.
