Prayers Needed!

Just got some terrible news today that my brother in law, Bret, has been diagnosed as terminal. Bret has been battling intestinal cancer that has metastasized through to his lungs & liver for the past year. Through chemo & radiation, they had been able to keep it at bay & were able to get him in to a clinical trial at Keck hospital at USC. The trial didn’t agree with him & basically has shut down his liver. They can’t treat the cancer due to his liver failure & the surgeons deemed him terminal & gave him a month survival estimate. He has a consultation with his oncologist & hopefully a liver specialist on Monday to see if there’s anything more that can be done but at the moment, the situation is very bleak. Please take a moment for Bret & my sister Laura as she is understandably very upset & let’s hope there’s more to be done. Thanks to you all! Chris

Prayers for Bret. May God touch his soul in these times, and his loved ones. I’ll be sure to have him added to our prayer chain at Church. Ive witness a lot of the miracles of Prayer. It’s in the hands of the almighty. We can never understand the ways of our Lord. I pray his suffering is  lessened and that healing can come in whatever form God chooses.

O Almighty God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray to You for Your servant whose sickness is bringing him to the end of his earthly life.

You are the God whose only-begotten Son taught us that not even the smallest sparrow can fall without Your knowledge, and that You hold all creation in Your merciful arms.

Look upon Your servant and allow this illness to be for the death only of those things which are the result of evil and sin.

Let his thoughts be quieted with the peace and confidence of his final deliverance into the fullness of Your love. Keep his soul and body pure,

and sanctify them during the time he remains among us, that on the last day he may be raised up with all Your saints to live with You in never ending glory.

For to You belong praise and worship,

to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages

. Amen.

O God, our help in time of need, Who are just and merciful, and Who inclines to the supplications of His people. Look down upon Bret  and his loved ones, have mercy on them and deliver them from the trouble that now besets them. Deal with them not according to their iniquities, but according to Your manifold mercies, for we are the works of Your hands, and You know our weaknesses. We pray to you to grant them Your divine helping grace, and endow them with patience and strength to endure their hardships with complete submission to Your Will.

Only You know our misery and sufferings, and to You, our only hope and refuge, we flee for relief and comfort, trusting in Your infinite love and compassion, that in due time, when You know best, You will deliver them from this trouble, and turn their distress into comfort. We then shall rejoice in Your mercy, and exalt and praise Your Holy Name, O Father, Son and Holy Spirit, both now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Having experienced both sides of the cancer spectrum, losing my brother-in-law to metastatic colon cancer and having Schoolmarm suffer through treatment and recovery for metastatic breast cancer, I can relate to the highs and lows and the terrors and the relief of both loss and survival!

Now my brother is fighting throat cancer!  He has endured chemotherapy and radiation and then surgery and more chemotherapy! We’re awaiting further news on his prognosis.

My heart reaches out to Bret and to you, Chris, and your whole family!  My prayers are outgoing!

Praying for Bret, his family and yours.
Heavenly Father, please take this family into your arms and give them strength, courage and wisdom to deal with this terrible situation. I ask that the physicians involved follow your will diligently and thoroughly, that they exhaust all avenues of care and if it be your will come to a miraculous healing.

Respectfully

I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind thoughts and prayers. We won’t know if there’s anything more that can be done until Monday when Bret has a consultation with his oncologist & hepatologist. I’ll post more then & once again thanks to you all…

Well, I’m sorry to say that there isn’t any more that can be medically done for Bret. Hospice has been in contact & will proceed from now on. He’s comfortable and in no pain. I want to thank all of you once again for your support as we navigate through this difficult time & please keep a thought for Bret & Laura.
