Captain Bill Burt Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 This is my second cowboy match. Mule Camp Cowboys February 2011. Sorry it's sideways, I can't fix it. This is me 2020 at South River Shootists.

Patagonia Pete Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Here are a few stage photos from Winter Range 2006 (can't post them all) - taken about 3pm on Tuesday 3/7/2006. Right after I finished taking photos of all the stages (all ready for the match the next day) the wind started up ... knocked a bunch of stuff down and broke a wooden cactus silhouette in half ... Some things change and some things are always the same!! (this was even before the big canoe w/ the paddle wheel!!)
J-BAR #18287 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 A young family friend, a non-shooter, inherited a J.C. Higgins .22 LR rifle from a deceased uncle. He asked if I could clean it up for him. He was pleased with the results: Before: After:
Brazos Bo Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 My first full overhaul and one of my favorites. Was a .30-06 and now a .280 Ackley Imp

He must have gotten slower because his costume standards have fallen, not his old age ! (sarcasm added by the Author for humor. And Grizzly Dave - I've never seen a better reason to start shaving again....you were a cute little guy...just ask yo Mama !

Three Foot Johnson Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 What a difference 40 years makes. The switchboard at Fort Casey, Whidbey Island, WA - 2015 vs 1975. Retired vs a 19 year old USN sailor. Probably around 340 in the first pic vs maybe 170... twice the man I used to be! Good Lor'a'mighty, I was getting big - dropped 80 pounds since that first pic.
watab kid Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 three foot , that really does give perspective to time having passed , i seldom think on it a lot but ive seen a couple similar examples and it reminds me ill not be looking at that 16 year old face in the morning when i shave-if i shave again , life is short , life is good
Old Man Graybeard Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Hey Buzzard...what happened??? You were kinda cute at one time...
Grizzly Dave Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 2009, maybe my third match as I was still getting the lay of the land. Yes, totally not conforming to costume requirements. Local monthly match gave me some leeway but gently let me know that for the annual I would need to 'cowboy up.' Fast forward to a year or two ago....
Bramble Mountain Buzzard Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Graybeard, my only choice now is to dress "kinda cute"
watab kid Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 buzzard - your lookin good , im looking forward to seeing you this summer --- and yes , in spite of the MSM hype i think we will get to shoot , i rather like that vest and chaps
Bramble Mountain Buzzard Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Hopefully we'll both be at the ND/SD shoot in June...

Griff Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Allie, nope, still don't believe it! This game keeps you young! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
watab kid Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 buzzard - "Hopefully we'll both be at the ND/SD shoot in June..." that is my plan and im sticking to it if the range is open , this virus thing affected my company to the point that some of us lost our jobs , ive now become retired and expect that any future work will be a retirement job only , ill be there tho i already planned for this and FITH , prepaid / presaved , life is good ,

Finally decided you must have cleaned up the inside and scrolled down. So was that a restock job, or was that beautiful wood stock painted green?
J-BAR #18287 Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 That is the original stock with the green paint removed. I refinished the wood with tung oil. The aluminum receiver was polished down to remove the scratches in the original black finish. Internals were degreased and relubed. Even with the crappy scope it shot reliably tight groups.
Ramblin Gambler Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 That green paint should be considered a war crime.
