Peterson Tractor's Special Equipment Dept. designed & built tandem D9's called a Quad Track which primary function was to push scrapers. J.D. Daily
2 hours ago, Sedalia Dave said: Is this the Double D9? Yes & no. That is a tandem dual D9 for PUSH CAT service. The CAT engine dealer I worked for from March 1978 through Dec 2012 & built the 1st dual D9's which were called Quad Tracks. It was used to push scrapers to reduce the cycle time of the scrapper it pushed. It also reduced the contractors labor cost by only requiring one operator for a pair of dozers. The side by side dual D9 doubled the drawbar pull & downforce on the ripper blade.
