Another school shooting

Recommended Posts

It's another sad day.

But again the media irritates me. Just saw it on NBC and the appeared to be only stated the know facts at this time.

CBS however, every other word pretty much was "heavy fire power". Let's add as much drama as possible to s bad situation. Can't help but wonder if this one had ignored warning signs as well.

What the hell causes these maniacs to do such a thing?

I will bet the shooter spent a good part of his time training to solve all problems on murder simulators --aka a video gamer.   When we allow people to be programmed in that way, why should we be surprised.

In aviation and other industries, training simulators are used to make difficult decision making in difficult situations into an automatic, pre-programmed thing.  Why are we surprised at these outcomes?

The questions are many and the answers will be few.  Prayers for the victims and their families.  It's a sad day and evil sometimes walks among us.

We've been saying that for decades.

Facts from the local news here in TX:

  • 14 students and a teacher were shot and killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday morning.
  • The shooter has been identified as 18-year-old Salvador Romas, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said. Romas is dead.
  • Authorities believe the suspect acted alone.
  • The suspect's grandmother was shot and killed prior to the school shooting. Authorities believe the shootings are linked.
  • Two police officers were also shot. They are expected to survive.

Anything else is speculation.

Remember that in their rush to be the "first" with "breaking news" the MSM almost always gets the initial facts wrong.

When a tragedy like this happens, do the radio talkback airwaves light up and the TV 'talking heads' get on the anti bandwagon in a feeding frenzy? Is it like that in the US?

Another sad day for the United States.

They should be erasing the shooters name from history and never mentioning his name again, the media will repeat his name repeatedly. Pictures of the a*****e will be shown for weeks. Some other sick, twisted punk will see that as "glorifying" his name into history and do the same thing themselves. Then the process begins again.

I truly believe that really does have something to do with this profoundly quite new 'active shooter' plague. Along with ultra violent movies.
When I was young in the '60's '70's '80s guns where literally EVERYWHERE.....but no one, I mean no one had this fear of an 'active shooter'.

Of course it's like that in the US.

The media is owned, managed and staffed by liberal, left wing radical socialists that drool over tragedies such as this.

EXACTLY the scumbags name should NEVER be mentioned publicly again once its been ascertained to be correct. This ongoing glorification of over and over and over of using the name and posting images, social media pages, manifestos etc etc is a sickness that the media indulge in and its just revolting.
OMG I hate how the world is saturated by instant media 'talking heads'.

If teachers and staff were armed and trained, this crap wouldn’t be happening!!

We should take cues from the education system in Israel!!

I tried to watch a democratic senator, from Connecticut, speak about how we need more gun control. Same old tired simple solution, from simple minds. What does a democratic senator, from Connecticut, know about what goes on down here? Nothing. He doesn't know hog-jowls from horse-droppings!  He is just grabbing some publicity, to push his agenda, and get some audience time. There is at least that many murders, on this open border down here, most every day, and the democrat administration isn't doing a thing about it. Down here, we want to know some facts, if they can be determined. Things like: the history of the murderer, how he got his firearms, legally, or illegally. Where did this all start? My grandson's elementary school doors are locked, and they have to let you in, if you want to visit, or have lunch with someone. Were these doors locked? If so, how did he gain entrance? Were any armed individuals, such as teachers, employees, guards, or police, or deputy sheriffs, in, or around the school? What can we do to keep buildings from being a "soft target", for these rabid cowards?

The people that don't live here need to stay out of this, and let us handle it, learn from it, and do what is needed to try and prevent it. But, if someone is determined to do this, gun laws or not, they will find the means to do it. I would always have a hard look at the parents, presuming these idiots have any.

What makes us mad, is...it will, and already is, becoming a political football, and they need to shut up, and let the grieving process, begin. This kind of thing is not for a politician to use, but it will be. I'm thinking of ole bet-to, as I write this. Freedom requires responsibility. When I was a kid, if some kid took a gun to school, their Dad would shove it up their kazoo, when they got home. Hopefully, time will reveal some things that we can use.

Such a tremendously sad thing... and of course, prayers for the victims and their loved ones.  Just mind-boggling.  :(

As an aside, I'm a bit anxious wondering what Walter's knee-jerk reactions might be.

Of course this specific massacre of school children is at the top of the list of any mass shootings that have occurred. It can't get worse then this. But there sure isn't any outrage by the media, politicians or celebrities with the number of minority members killed in Chicago, week after week.

I read an article that was asking where is the outrage from white Americans about the Buffalo shootings. My answer to that is we are outraged by all of the murders that occur including Buffalo. We don't choose to be outraged by only murders that fit a specific agenda and ignore hundreds of murders in one city because it doesn't fit what we want to be outraged by.

The junior dimwit representing CT in the US Senate is a career politician who will say whatever he thinks will get him re-elected in CT.  Worse is that he is only 48, which means he'll be a senator for decades.  I consider both senators from CT to be political lightweights in the Senate, they are followers, not leaders.

Never allow a crisis to go to waste. Much of the publicity encourages copy cats.

We've spent over $40B for Ukraine and do not enforce our borders. If a portion of that money was spent to harden our schools, it might have prevented this and other school tragedies.

How about locking school doors, installing cameras, safety officer(s), responders on speed dial, etc. We waste so much money everywhere and pursue things that aren't solutions to existing problems.

Recall the NRA' s proposed funded program from several years back, to harden schools?

How would this outcome have changed if the teachers had all been armed and properly trained, per that initiative?

Sometimes, the correct answer is not the one that sounds the best in media soundbites.

I'll say it because nobody else will:

when a society puts NO VALUE on the unborn child, even up to a couple weeks before birth, then the value of ALL LIFE becomes diminished, worthless and

meaningless to many around us.

..........Widder

Because they are nutters that nobody is willing to say, "That boy's crazy," and do something about it and/or the government agencies that find out he's a nut just say, 'He's a kid, he'll grow out of it,' and ignore the problem.

Same thing happened in Florida with the Parkland school shooting and the guy that shot folks in the church in Texas- the first one- was kicked out of the Air Force for domestic abuse.  The USAF didn't report it to the Feds, so he was able to legally buy guns.  He couldn't get a concealed carry permit in Texas because his discharge from the Air Force wasn't an honorable one.

'Warning signs' don't do a bit of good if you don't heed them.

By the way, he legally purchased the guns he used because there was nothing in the system that said that he shouldn't be able to.

He walked through an open unlocked door! Most all of the schools around here are locked and you need to get buzzed in.
