Can't find a soundtrack online but mine is "Angels Can Do No More", a song by Texas balladeer Andy Wilkinson who is a descendant of Charlie Goodnight. Its on the "Deep in the Heart" album. Taft, I think you'd like his music!

ANGELS CAN DO NO MORE

Andy Wilkinson/1997 Grey Horse Press (BMI)

We laid poor Sammy to his rest

Dug a deep hole and did our best

To say the right thing as we knocked the dirt from the shovel

So far from God and so near to a life of trouble

No more than a boy when he died like a man

We stood around his grave with our hats in our hand

Leanin' first on one foot and then on the other

Wishin' we'd a knowed what to say to write to his mother

CHORUS:

But there ain't much to say when a man dies young

Before he can do what he should have done

Leastways the cowboys that knowed him swore

Sammy done his damnedest

Angels can do no more

We stared at our boots and nobody spoke

'Til the trail boss coughed, cleared his throat

And said to the cook, "Tear a plank off the chuckwagon

And bring it here to mark the grave of our young companion."

So the wranglers made a fire out of dry prairie coal

The wind fanned the flames 'til the brandin' iron glowed

Then we burned in the wood the words we should've been sayin'

Down on our knees like a bunch of growed men prayin'

CHORUS

Sammy rode hard and never complained

Two long years on the Rockin' Chair range

Chasin' them steers down the salt fork of the Red River

Angels' and cowboys' work goes on forever

And as for myself when it's my time to die

I hope there's a cowhand or two standin' by

To pack down the dirt and carry the news to the family

And say over me what we should've said over Sammy

CHORUS

CHORUS

Sammy done his damnedest

Had to pick a long theme song, as it takes me forever to shoot a stage! :);) I think my personal best is something like 30-40 seconds, but I usually run in the 60-70 second range!

"No Quarter"

"Oh Lord it's Hard to be Humble". Mac Davis

My link

Major Pain   :FlagAm:

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

when you're perfect in every way.

I can't wait to look in the mirror

cause I get better looking each day.

To know me is to love me

I must be a hell of a man.

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

but I'm doing the best that I can.

I used to have a girlfriend

but she just couldn't compete

with all of these love starved women

who keep clamoring at my feet.

Well I prob'ly could find me another

but I guess they're all in awe of me.

Who cares, I never get lonesome

cause I treasure my own company.

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

when you're perfect in every way,

I can't wait to look in the mirror

cause I get better looking each day

To know me is to love me

I must be a hell of a man.

[From: http://www.elyrics.net ]

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

but I'm doing the best that I can.

I guess you could say I'm a loner,

a cowboy outlaw tough and proud.

I could have lots of friends if I want to

but then I wouldn't stand out from the crowd.

Some folks say that I'm egotistical.

Hell, I don't even know what that means.

I guess it has something to do with the way that I

fill out my skin tight blue jeans.

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

when you're perfect in every way,

I can't wait to look in the mirror

cause I get better looking each day

To know me is to love me

I must be a hell of a man.

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

but I'm doing the best that I can.

We're doing the best that we can

I knew you looked like my kin... :P

I really don't recall how that got hung on me back then I wad a bit of a "Cowboy Nerd". Might have had something to do with my relationship with "LEO's" at the time. Straight "A" honors student, Vice President of the Spanish and Art clubs but seemed to be spending an inordinate amount of time standing and watching our local La Porte, Tx PD officers fill out reports...involving me...and some activity I was presumed, witnessed, accused, innocent of ('til proven otherwise) violation of motor vehicle, traffic, civil, property laws. Always suspected...never convicted...Guess it was the Cowboy hat and afro thing fit a profile. B)/> Just glad it was a really small town and most everyone knew everyone.

So you get any word on the next "lost family reunion" date Grizz? :D/>

By the by...Don Williams one of the finest writers/singers IMHO...good call

Hardin - I grew up in Boulder, Colorado in the sixties, nuff said.

Always suspected, never convicted rings true for me as well, especially in high school. I think the principal in charge of discipline kept my name at the top of the list just as a matter of course. I was at the other end of the academic list though, most things came easy and I quickly discovered how to do just enough to get by, which often didn't work LOL. So my senior year I wound up taking more credits than the prior two years combined, including night classes just so I could get the heck outta there. I hand delivered a term paper to an English teacher at her house the day before graduation not knowing if it would save my grade and let me pass and graduate. But, it worked out.

After working a couple of years, I went to college and managed the straight As (except one B in an English class) as I then understood that it was important after all.

Well, listen to me babble on.

Have not heard of a family reunion, but I'm hoping you have news of some inheritance... :D

I've been worrying about this since I first saw this this morning.

All things considered:

"I'm Here for the Party!"
