Widder's too humble and modest to tell everybody, but I'm not:ph34r:. He was awarded a Quilt of Valor a few days ago for his service in the Navy. I couldn't get many specifics from him regarding details. Thank you for your service!

Thanks everyone.

Some history:

The 'Quilt of Valor' is sponsored and presented by the Quilt of Valor Foundation.

I was surprised, humbled and honored to receive this recognition.

Mine was presented in large part for my service in the Navy, and in particular,

a 16 month 'tour' of Morocco as a Radioman from 69-71.

I was in a little place on the outskirts of the desert at a little place called

Sidi Yahia.

If you think its hot in Arizona, you ain't been to Sidi Yahia.....

I don't recall any specific action I did that I would consider 'valor', but if I did,

I would have to keep it a secret..... ;)

Thanks again for the kind words.

You made it to the Gedunk and back unscathed, and brought needed supplies.

Congratulations Widder. :)

I spent a few days in Tangier Morocco in the Spring of ‘82. The weather was warm but nice. What an odd place it was. Hashish and tea everywhere it seemed, but beer and whiskey, not so much.

I cannot imagine 16 months there. Swabbies should not have to endure such dry land for so long. ;)

Congratulations :FlagAm:
