Pat Riot
Saturday, March 10th is the day to move your clocks ahead if you live in a state that still does this. California passed a bill to do away with the time change and keep Daylight Savings Time year round. I need to look into where this is at. I know it needed a 2/3 approval in the state houses and then needs to go to Congress for final approval. Anyway, enough about that. It’s time to Spring Ahead everybody

Lorelei Longshot, SASS #44256 Life
Which states don't use daylight savings time? Most areas of the United States observe daylight saving time (DST), the exceptions being Arizona (except for the Navajo, who do observe daylight saving time on tribal lands), Hawaii, and the overseas territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands. Why Arizona doesn't observe daylight-saving time? But unlike almost everywhere else, Arizona doesn't observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), and hasn't done so for about the last 40 years. It means the state is in the same time zone as Denver from November to March, but then falls behind Denver to Los Angeles time from March to November. http://time.com/5005600/states-without-daylight-savings-time/ 3/7/2019 So why does Daylight Saving Time (sometimes mistakenly referred to as Daylight Savings Time) even exist, and why do some states not participate in the biannual ritual? It turns out Daylight Saving Time started out nearly a century ago, way back in March 1918. It was officially pitched as a way to save fuel during World War I. In reality, it was also a means of luring people out into the extended daylight hours to shop, attend sporting events and spend time outdoors, author Michael Downing argues in his book Spring Forward: The Annual Madness of Daylight Saving Time. Today, though, more and more states are arguing that the concept is outdated, and some are even considering dropping it altogether. wo U.S. states and several territories don’t do Daylight Saving, and a Massachusetts commission is currently campaigning for the Commonwealth, and possibly the rest of New England and New York, to move into the Atlantic time zone, effectively ending Daylight Savings Time there by permanently turning the clocks an hour ahead. Proponents argue that the switch could mediate some of the economic and health consequences that come with decreased daylight — including upticks in traffic accidents, heart attacks, workplace injuries and crime — while improving quality of life during dark fall and winter months. States across the country, from Alaska to Texas to Florida, have floated similar ideas. Only time will tell if Massachusetts moves forward with the plan, joining these states that do not observe Daylight Savings Time

Pat Riot
I like it moved forward. I despise it in the Fall when we turn back an hour. I would not like it much if we went to standard time and left it there. Wintertime sucks with standard time.

Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103
Its benefits and detriments will be forever sworn at. So be it. Let my voice be this: My friends, if you do nothing else this time change, switch out the batteries in your smoke detector. I know what it is to go into what used to be a house, and on overhaul, find the smoke detector hanging open, the battery gone ... and on interrogation, the kids admitted to swiping the battery to run their video game, and didn't put it back, and that night when the fire broke out they lost everything but what they wore to bed. Cliff Hanger #3720LR
I never got the changing batteries int he smoke detectors are Time change. My thought has always been that the most likely fire events where 4th of July and Christmas. So I change batteries on my birthday end of June and the 1st of Dec. Whiskey Business
Daylight saving time is like lemmings off a cliff. Dumbassery to the extreme. Socialist wanker wanting control came up with this back in the 1800's. Then adopted here during WW1. Hundred. Years. Ago. So outdated.

Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L
going to be interesting to see how many make Church this a.m. We (I) always check the attendance between Traditional Service (8:30) and Compemtporay Service (11:00) each week. Keystone, SASS # 47578
Well, The best part of DST for me is I'll now be waking up at 6:30am instead of 5:30am. Makes me feel more normal getting that extra hour of sleep. I'd be pleased to stay with DST and have the more sunlight in the evenings all year round. Seems silly for a retired person but the same rise-n-shine time for the last 40 years is hard to change. That darn infernal internal clock never takes a vacation. Actually you lost an hour of sleep last night. At 0200 the clocks jumped ahead to 0300. So if you get up at 0530 Daylight Saving Time (DST) you are getting up at 0430 Standard Time.
