Dungannon Gunner Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I remember so well reading the great articles in his magazine when I was maybe 14 or 15.
Dutch Wheeler Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I would guess that he went with a smile on his face. RIP Hef!

Wolfgang, SASS #53480 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Back in the '60s it was a great magazine.

I wonder if they had problems getting the casket closed! Yeah, I just knowed that deviant life style would send him to an early grave. I wonder if there are any of his Playboy Clubs still running.

Dantankerous Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Very few people can say they actually live and work their dream job. Hugh Hefner is one of the very few I'm sure I could indeed say that.
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 RIP Sr. You introduced me to my first Five Girlfriends . Just sayin Rooster .
Grampaw Willie, SASS No.26996 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 head over to the Huffington-Puffington Post to check out the Wake remember, with $600 in his pocket this clown got Marilyn Monroe to pose nude for his first issue (1953).

Monroe did not pose nude specifically for Playboy; Hefner had purchased the picture from a local printer who made calendars.
Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I see over on Fox News that Hugh Hefner died of natural causes. You don't want to get natural causes. I've never heard of anybody surviving natural causes. I sure hope I never get natural causes.

My wife complained about my snoring...I told her it's because I don't want to die quietly in my sleep. I figure if I make a ruckus I'll be okay.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Playboy Clubs closed years ago. There are a few now but they ignore trademarks and copyrights. He sold the mansion so now I think everyone must leave.
Eyesa Horg Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I want to die quietly in my sleep like my Grandfather, not like the screaming passengers in his car!
J-BAR #18287 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I bought my first Playboy magazine at age 18. I thought I had hidden it well but Mom found it. Dang! How do they do that??
Pat Riot Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I used to stay at the Playboy Towers Hotel in Chicago when I was in the Navy stationed at Great Lakes NTC. Normally $80 a night in 1979/80. Military paid $15. There were no Playboy Bunnies at the hotel. They were all at the Lake Geneva Resort. I went there once just to say I went. Nothing special to a guy that was taking in an E-1 salary. I think I had 2 drinks and got the heck out of there. I couldn't even afford a lousy tee shirt.

Chili Ron Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Howdy, Im sure Hef is in a better place. Well, maybe. I mean look what he lived in....better? Best CR
Capt. R. Hugh Kidnme Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 The last Playboy Club still operating was in E. Lansing, MI. I was there once or twice, just to say I did it. But, that was late 80s and I believe it closed in 90s The Dude who owns the Twinkies empire now gets to move in, or plow under the LA Playboy mansion. He bought in @4 yrs ago, and also owns the adjacent estate. Learned that one on a tour bus ride, while visiting our daughter, in LA back in June. And Hef was finally done in by the notorious couple Father Time and Mother Nature.
StickInMyCraw Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Someone I know suggested he died as a result of an STD and I laughed at them. They said, "What's so funny about that?" to which I replied, "If I had an STD at 91 I'd wear it like a badge of honor and publish it in the local paper!!!"

Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217 Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I saw a few shows on TV yesterday that talked about him. One thing that was emphasized was that he treated the ladies (bunnies) with respect. It is hard to condemn someone even according to today's standards who was respectful. Bravo, Hef! Aside, the Plymouth Hotel (9 miles from my home) is owned by a former bunny named Diane. There is a photo of her in her bunny outfit. After her sojourn as a bunny, she went to France to attend cooking school. I eat lunch there occasionally. It is okay. That is all I know about her.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 The Playboy jet was leased from Western Airlines(WAL). In my early days as a 'Ramp-Rat' and then later on was qualified to fuel and tow aircraft. Many times, I towed the PB jet from the WAL maintenance hangar to the satellite at LAX. BTW: The Dodgers also leased their jet from WAL/LAX. OLG
Warden Callaway Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Didn't his daughter take over the business? Didn't she put out a Playgirl magizine?

Yes, His daughter Christie Hefner was the Playboy Enterprises Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. She stepped down in 2009. The Hefner family had nothing to do with Playgirl magazine. That rag was founded in 1973 by Douglas Lambert.
Festus G Lonetree Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I'm pretty sure Hugh Hefner would get bored in heaven
