A Sad Goodbye to The General

Misty Moonshine

Recommended Posts

It is with a very heavy heart that I report to you all that Boyd A. Davis, SASS #2 (The General) passed away this morning in his California home, surrounded by his family.

The General was a founding father of SASS and Cowboy Action Shooting. He was our president, resident comedian, and caring patriarch.

He had the kindest heart of anyone I've ever met; he was my mentor... and my friend.

I humbly ask for prayers for his family during this difficult time.

I will share memorial information as it becomes available.

Prayers up for the family and for friends.

A GREAT man, a GREAT cowboy, a GREAT founding father of our game. His example, influence and contributions will live on for a LONG time. May many others take a look at his example and recognize a path to follow.

Lord, take our dear friend into your fellowship.

Very sad to hear this. Was lucky enough to get to spend some time with him the past couple of years. A tremendous loss to our sport, EMF, and all of us who knew him. Rest in Peace General and my condolences to his family.

Never had the pleasure to meet the man, but certainly admire his accomplishments. I hope his passing was peaceful, and that he is safe in the arms of the Lord.

Vaya con Dios, Sir.

Sad News

Dear God, only You know when I'll reach the end of my trail,

So I want you to know I'm grateful.

A hundred times I've been thrown by life

And a hundred times You've lifted me back in the saddle.

Every morning I see Your smile in the sunrise over the prairie

And taste Your breath in the sage on the wind.

You put the aches in my bones at sunset to remind me that I'm still alive,

And the stars in the midnight sky to keep me humble.

I know that You love me.

When I've thirsted You've been my drink

And Your words have been my bread.

You catch me when I tangle my spurs,

You keep me from taking the crooked path.

You gave Your Son for my immortal soul.

And I know, Lord, that when I am judged

You won't care how long I stayed on–

But how well I rode.

Very sad news for SASS indeed.

I will personally miss him a great deal. He was always upbeat and enthusiastic during our conversations about Team SASS initiatives and ideas. I always felt the real presence of the General's support as we discussed ideas for how best to implement and support our Second Amendment mission. Much more than any impact he had on just me, was the irreplaceable impact he had on SASS and CAS throughout his life. He gave our sport and our organization real momentum from Day 1 up until his very last breath.

Miss Mary and I will surely keep him and his lovely wife in our prayers.

Condolences to the family, friends and the entire SASS family.

He now rides herd over us all along with Hoppy, Gene, Roy and Coyote.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Our condolences to his family and our thanks for all his efforts for SASS.

Without SASS there would be no "Stan and Clan".....
