My neighbor's kid turned 21.

He said, "I'm gettin closer to 50." (closer to his dad's age)

I told him the first 50 are easy. . . .

Gents, was in the same boat - sports, martial arts, motorcycles (BTW even if I had a time machine, I wouldn't change a thing He** of a ride!).  I came back to SASS because of gifts from my kids at Christmas which entirely changed my level of pain and mobility.  A device and a supplement.  I have no involvement with either company other than as a highly satisfied user. May not work for you, do some research and  talk to your Doc.  If you want details, PM.

I feel for you.  My shooting days may be completely over.  I have a version of an "essential tremor" in my hands.  They shake like a leaf in a high wind, and it gets worse when they are being used (like in shooting).  I've tried a few different treatments, and the side effects make them untenable.  The sad truth is that I can't hold a gun safely any longer.

I can still teach.  I can hang out with my friends and swap stories and lies.  But shooting is iffy at best.

Come up to the Troublemakers in Brownsboro. An hour and a half drive but we would love to have you.

Even if you don't shoot the match you would enjoy the group lunch afterwards. Lunch usually lasts two plus hours.

I'll even buy you lunch.

Hey Greysmoke,  haven't seen you in a long time.  Come on over to Brownsboro or Oakwood and shoot with us.. Some of us younger shooters will be glad to help you along.  I will eat my 88th birthday cake this year!  Still having fun.

I hear ya......

I turned 65 last year and since then things just seem to be going down hill physically. Maybe if I quit trying to do 30 year old things with a 65 year old body it wouldn't be so bad. It's tough telling yourself you can't do something when you know you did it with ease once.

75 next month and I'm grateful I can still do everything I need and want to do. I'm still working part time and shooting but there are days when I think WTH is going on?? I have some arthritis and I just deal with it. Advil or Aleve works wonders although I try not to use them everyday.

Well finally a post that most everyone can agree on. It's long been said that getting old ain't fer sissies, and it's the truth. No whining allowed! Some folks have maintained a fair amount of agility at 75, and some have lost it at 60. We do what we can to rise to the occasion, to grit our teeth and for 20, 30, 40 or however many seconds we do the best we can. NOBODY can ask for more than that. It's something that some smart-ass kids just don't understand...........yet! I've been blessed to have played this game for 30 yrs, and though I'm not as zippy as I use to be, I'm still in there trying..... there's this Old Man that I want to beat! ;) We never know if we will make it to the next day, or what it will bring if we get there. So take each day as they come, find something good in each day and keep moving. I've been doing that since they told me I couldn't live much longer...... that was almost 14 yrs ago! Stay the Course my old friends, don't loose your Faith and remember, metamucil fiber is your friend. :P

Old and grumpy fairly easy.  Little blue pills to help you rise to the occasion. ( Naproxen just to be clear.)  Out living your spouse, hardest thing you will ever have to endure and the crying does not help or stop.

Everyday is a challenge anymore. Motorcycle wreck in 1976 left me with left leg 1 inch shorter, shattered patella. They simply sewed the tendons together in my knee leaving me with about 45 degrees of flection. Throw in the Neuropathy brought on by diabetes and my feet hurt all the time. 40 years of walking with the short leg finally caught up to me about 5 or 6 years ago. Increasingly worse pains in lower back and hips have left me using a walker to get anywhere. Oh, let's not forget the COPD that has me on oxygen 24/7 or the cancer in my right lung. Sometimes it just doesn't seem worth it anymore.......

In 30 days I wil turn 92.  Shot a Wild Bunch match last weekend.  I will admit I had to enlist my grandson to be a gun bearer.  Such fun that I cannot give it up.  Two weeks till Cowboy Shoot.  May 1, gives me 20 years in CAS.

Heck, my closest club is over an hour away!  But you are correct, having a traveling Pard is nice.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Same here, over the last two years my health was hit by a rpg,  beside my only local SASS match is about 1 hour driving (sadly because super duper people to meet with) sometimes wife has some other plans which I have to comply too.
