CA to stop selling gas-powered cars by 2035

Here we go... from the "forward-thinking" minds of the Moonbat State comes a ban on sales of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035. I can only assume these people are smart enough to figure out how they're going to be able to power all of the new electric vehicles by then. It's not like the state ever suffers a severe drought or wildfires or anything.

Is that for real?

Seriously there are a lot of working class folks who are dependent on gas powered vehicles and while it seems like gas stations are everywhere I know for a fact some areas are definitely few and far between.
As much as I think we should take care of our planet I am thinking someone who can barely afford a really cheap car is a little unlikely to pony up even 15-20 k for a used EV. To force them to buy an EV (at any price) is clearly a fascist move to control their financial future for years to come. As a recent retiree who has done a decent job preparing for the future I can tell you that an EV is not in my near term plans.

Real as death and taxes .

https://www.ksro.com/2022/08/24/santa-rosa-passes-ban-on-new-gas-stations/

"The construction of new gas stations is now off-limits in Santa Rosa. The Santa Rosa City Council unanimously approved the ban on Tuesday night. The vote also bans the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure, like new gas pumps, at existing gas stations. Santa Rosa is the fifth city in Sonoma County to ban new gas stations. Petaluma became the first city in the nation to do so last year. Then, this year, it was followed by Sebastopol, Rohnert Park, and Cotati. Windsor town officials are expected to consider a similar ordinance on September 7th."

Also not the first In March 2021, the Petaluma, CA City Council voted unanimously to prohibit the creation, expansion, reconstruction and relocation of gas stations, encouraging owners to transition to stations that serve electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles. The changes were tackled through the zoning code. It is believed to be the first city in the country to pass such a ban

California also banned the Camaro ZL1 from being sold , material in brake pads

Have you all ever considered that there are government employees perusing websites looking for gripes like this only so they can laugh and giggle at their all important morning meetings?

Leftist douchebags love it when they irk real people. You feed their frenzy by getting upset at things you have no real control over.

Now, go ahead, get mad at me for pointing this out and then get on with your day and the more important things that you have to worry about.

Screw ‘em!

Methinks they better work on the electric grid first!!

That's the real issue.  They won't back nukes, they refuse to see that coal fired plants aren't stalled at 1939 technology, and that natural gas powered plants are fairly clean.  And of course, God forbid that any new transmission and distribution lines get laid.

Same thing here in Canada, only nation wide.

It's going to be interesting in our North, where there is no electrical grid but people live, dependent on fossil fuels for their life style.

Same tune different country.  Most countries in Africa saw little famine when the people lived a rural life. Life was hard but the people were happy. However the rulers cannot fund an extravagant lifestyle when their subjects cannot be easily taxed. So they rounded them up and coerced them to live in cities. Now the rulers eat caviar in their palaces while the people starve and are no longer happy.

Be eliminating the Internal combustion engine the ruling class is coercing those that do not live according to their wishes to comply or leave.

SD is right as usual. This is as much about “saving the planet” as it is about long term goals of forced urbanization through mobility control.

You are correct about the baiting of Conservatives. Especially if the protest is set up online and they want you to sign up. Don’t fall for that unless you know for sure who you are signing up with.

I have sat in meetings where public employees have discussed posts online regarding projects and gauging the attitudes of commenters to plan deflection strategies. They didn’t like what I had to say and miraculously I was disinvited to any more of their meetings.
It turned out they were using paid interns to do their dirty work (search and catalog). The job description of the interns did not mention this sort of thing. Somehow the Office of the Inspector General found out  and that department lost their interns. They were transferred.

There are all kinds of games being played in public agencies in certain states of this country. The public doesn’t know a darn thing about it and the only way to know is to actually work there. The is NO TRANSPARENCY.

In Military I was assigned with AWG (Asymmetric Warfare Group) and deployed under ODA's ( Operational Detachment Alpha)  and some units and with PSYOPS along with the occasional Spook (Alphabet agencies ) They are not using things that havent been tried and known to work .
We ran full ops in downtown Honolulu , LA as well as in Combat .
I dont even argue with people about things anymore cant make a blind man see , believe the current social media endorsed thing all  you want , But social media and news will feed you what they want you the think , one big PsyOps why because I have done them LOL . The modern Human mind is being conditioned to fall for you can call it propaganda to fall in line with
example google psych ops  medical outbreak tell me what pops up :) anyway enough Rambling people will believe the current thing always  PsyOps is easy

Pat just recently left California (again).  I'll count him as a Californian.  I think a few others are one-time Californians.

All the more reason to support Space Based Solar-electric Power satellites! Large solar arrays collect energy from the sun, turn it into microwaves and beam them down to huge rectifying antennas on the ground.  Absurd? Of course.  Except DOD and DOE is exploring preliminary projects to at least power some military installations.  Of course, maybe "The Big One" will hit and the whole state will slide off up to the Nevada state line! ;)

When "The Big One" hits everything east of the San Andreas will fall into the Atlantic.  :P

Long before 2035, the realities of electric recharge cost, grid deficiencies, battery disposal cost, charge time inconvenience, and the climate change  agenda will become readily evident.  I won't hold my breath waiting for CARB to implement this half-baked solution to a non problem.

Whay they will do is find other ways to turn fossil fuel cars into State revenue.  That added taxation is one thing we in California can always depend on-- all the while with the Governor bragging about his fake $37 Billion budget surplus.

And by 2035, we will probably be at war with somebody (or vanquished by them), and nobody will even be thinking about their toy electric cars.

People in other states have good reason to be concerned about idiotic regulations enacted by other states such as California, Washington and others. All it takes is ONE election cycle for these type regulations to spread like the cancer that it is.

Just a little research will show that there is no place in this country that has the electrical infrastructure to handle even a moderate switch to EV's. A little more research will reveal that there is no infrastructure for the disposal/recycle of EV waste.

You can ignore the idiotic laws and regulations that California, Washington and many other liberal states have enacted if you want to. These laws and regulations aren't just limited to fossil fuel items, if you haven't noticed.

You can ignore up them until the day that it's at YOUR doorstep. I choose not to

I have a perfect, logical alternate solution for the wethers in Sackamenna:  Just make it illegal to eat brake pads, new or used!  :)

SASS Wire is hardly a good cross sectional representation of California.

Occasionally we even hear minority grumblings about laws in states the grumbled does not reside in, such as voter reform laws. Such is the beauty of Federalism: ideas, good or bad, can be originated and implemented locally or regionally without the majority having to unwillingly bear any burden or consequence of imposed upon ideas.

They are going to go back to horse and buggies.  I understand they think they are doing great things to "savr" the world but their efforts are so messed up on so many levels.

Exactly.  There will be no research done in these areas ever again .  There will be no improvement in infrastructure.  Everything is frozen at August 2022 levels.

And the cost is off the charts. Why, about two months ago it cost me almost SIXTEEN DOLLARS to go from a 5% charge to 95% during peak pricing hours!  And that only gives me about 165 miles of range.  Why, with the extra driving on the weekend I had to plug in at home the next Thursday, just in case.

Tongue in cheek to be sure...However...

2035 is only thirteen years away. Much can happen in thirteen years, but...they better get started NOW. I really don't think that the electrical grid can be upgraded to a sufficient level to support even a 75/25% mix of EV/ICE vehicles by that time. By the time that planning is achieved/approved, bidding solicited/approved, financing secured, construction of new power generation facilities began, cost overruns re-examined and financed and construction finally completed...the thirteen years has come and went.

New power generation facilities are but part of the equation. All distribution facilities must be upgraded also. That's everything from the power lines leaving the power plant, to the lines going to every residence and everything in-between. Can it be done in thirteen years? I sure have my doubts about that.
