Area 51

Recommended Posts

Are there any other areas like this that are well known, or a list of the other, at the least, 50 classified areas?

I was stationed at Dugway for a very brief time in 1970.  It wasn't much then but it was...and still is huge.  Because of its location not many people even know it exists.

It's also one of the coldest places I have ever been.  We were running a firing range for a Army Reserve unit out of Ogden, Utah.  They were shooting 105 and 155 Howitzers.  The guns were left in the cold for two days while they got a bunch of things done, then the guns were fired.  One of the 105s cracked a breech block because of the cold metal getting instantly heated by the shot...or so they told me.  We had a spare or two, and I think the thing simply busted because of metal fatigue.  They were all Korean war vintage and didn't get much care or use.

That was almost 55 years ago and a lot could have (and probably has) changed since then.  It's so big and so remote that a lot could be hidden there and not even be noticed...like an entire city the size of Salt Lake.

If we told you, we'd either have to kill you or lock you away in an undisclosed location till you turned to dust.

At most of our ages, we're already turning to dust :-)

I heard rumor of an area 17, located in the desert, of course, somewhere in Nevada. It may be an internet myth, but purportedly the recipe for the special sauce on a Big Mac was stolen from there.

It really doesn’t matter. Soon the aliens will come, but we gotta get the planet cooler so they can move about freely. Their agents have been greasing the rails for a certain type of politician for years so those politicians can manipulate the masses in the Americas and Europe.
The initial invasion…I mean, appearances will be in the northern hemisphere.
The trouble is the sea dwelling aliens that are already here are actually warming the planet by manipulating the core to throw off the positions of the magnetic poles. They’re also using a very small black hole to manipulate gravitational forces to get earth a bit closer to the sun. There is some debate about where this singularity is. Some believe it is in the Marianna’s Trench while others believe it’s in orbit opposite the moons orbit.

Certain politicos think we humans can cool the earth by jumping through their hoops at our own expense.
Personally, I applaud the sea aliens in their efforts. It’s October and it’s still motorcycle weather here in God’s Country.

Platform 9 3/4, Kings Cross Station to Hogwarts ............:D

J. K. Rowling gave her thoughts on choosing Platform 9 3/4.

In choosing the number of the concealed platform that would take young witches and wizards to boarding school, I decided that it would have to be a number between those of the Muggle platforms – therefore, it was clearly a fraction. This raised the interesting question of how many other fractional platforms lay between the whole-numbered platforms at King’s Cross, and I concluded that were probably quite a few. Although these are never mentioned in the book, I like to think that it is possible to take a version of the Orient Express off to wizard-only villages in continental Europe (try platform seven and a half), and that other platforms may be opened on an as-required-basis, for instance for large, one-off events such as Celestina Warbeck concerts (see your ticket for details).

The number nine and three-quarters presented itself without much conscious thought, and I liked it so much that I took it at once. It is the ‘three-quarters’ that makes it, of course.

There is a pretty good book about Area 51, It is called Area 51 by Annie Jacobsen.  I worked in Aerospace for 40 years as an Engineer on the Apollo, Space Shuttle, B-1 Bomber, B-2 Stealth Bomber and other classified programs. Used to board a company plane, window shades locked closed and fly to a desert test area. Upon landing, taxi into a hanger and doors closed. Worked indoors all day and flew back home. Never actually knew where we were, just a classified place in the desert. You figure it out.Area51016.thumb.jpg.6ab545a4a72b8e8be1a13017dca8edb5.jpg

51 is just a name, like Jones for example. It can’t be considered the 51st something.

You are all getting fooled by the name Area 51! It is actually "Restricted Area 4808 North."

Don't know about no aliens though. But still, dividing by roughly 100 minimizes the areas.

Area 51? Area 87? Those small numbers do not convey the full scope and scale of identified places. At least 5,000 I'm sure.

But setting aside conjecture, here is the publicly known history of that particular location, quite interesting:

You would have to start watching for cars parked up the street a bit and then who is following you.

What about Area Jones?
