A Google search shows them as legit, but some old reviews that sound terrible.

I purchased from them an about 1 month ago. Best price I could find for a Pietta GW2 in nickle. I have purchased from them several times over the years.

I haven't done business with them in a long time, but they used to have a great reputation.  I got what I paid for.  They've been around a long time.

If you are speaking of Buds Gunshop, I have purchased from them many times, ship in a couple days, never had an issue with them.

I've gotten a couple of guns from them.  They all are using "spider" inventory. The gun exists somewhere but not necessarily at their location.  You place an order and the gun may be in Timbuktu for all you know.  Buds will tell you it's in their warehouse but I bet it's not.

I once looked for a Taylor's Smoke Wagon in 44WCF. I found a dozen places that had one in stock but not two. Ok, I'll order one from Bud's as I already had an account there. Did.  Now I'll order another from one of the other online dealers.  All the rest had immediately went stock out.

It’s been a few years but I’ve bought a couple of guns from them and had no problem.. If you see a good price don’t hesitate. I bought one from them once and went to show someone what I had ordered on their website and it had gone up $100 in a week.

My experience matches Concho Billy's.  But I have to send to an FFL and pay a reasonable fee to them.  So often times, I can get almost the same deal from a local FFL, thus easier and help local folks.

Recent purchase of a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 pistol (.22lr Mark IV, but with 1911 geometry).

Bud's Gun Shop and Range in Sevierville had no stock, pointed me to the parent company. Ordered with shipment to the local store. Sales tax calculated for the local store and the $10 NICS fee when I picked it up. Just 4473 and out the door with no problem. Plus getting a 1/2 hour of range time for making the purchase.

Shipping to a different FFL adds additional shipping fees plus your FFL fees, plus the NICS check.

They do draw on distributor inventory, not sure how this matters (as long as there is stock).

On edit: Your FFL needs to file papers with Bud's (the online web company, not my local store). And don't confuse the two.

Yes I have.  I spent 6 months looking for a CZ Sharptail and Bud’s had one in stock.  YouTuber hichok45, who I respect, recommends Bud’s Guns.  My LGS was already on file with Bud’s, easy peasy.  Within a week I had the CZ in hand.  This was my first purchase from Bud’s and I personally would not hesitate purchasing from them again.

One of my best gunshops, the guy will order you anything for his price plus $25. The same as he charges for transfer fees. I had him order a couple of guns, one being the second Smoke Wagon.  Tied up his money and time. He sold out his shop.

I bought a single trigger Stoeger coach gun from them a couple of months ago.  Had no problem.  I usually try to purchase locally, but no one else had a single trigger Stoeger so....  Based on my first and only experience using them, I would buy from them again.  They sponsor Hickock 45 on YT.

They are horrible. Just check reviews. They take your cash and have your item drop shipped. Once they have your money they don’t care when you get your item.

Well...most online folks don't carry the represented inventory in their own facility. Drop shipping is very common.

I understand drop shipping as I’ve looked into it myself. I just can’t figure how they sell for what is damn close to the wholesale price.
Im guessing you’ve gotten the calls too. “Can you beat Buds price?” Heck no I can’t, he’s selling at $5 over my cost.

I have done transfers for customers from them and all were OK except one. Customer ordered a pair of shotguns for his grandsons, the guns received were different from each other, and neither were like the one pictured. Returned with no issue. That was probably 5 years ago.

They sent me a 92 instead of a 73 and refused to admit their mistake. Wanted me to pay for return and charge a 10% restock fee. Told them to blow it out their ass.

I bought one gun this past winter from them. They indicated before hand that that particular model would take extra time to deliver (as did other sites). They were right about the delay. It was maybe two weeks or so to get here. Gun was as expected and had no issues with it.

Highest volume dealers get the lowest of tiered pricing.  It started that way back when they actually placed large orders and stocked the guns, and I guess it continues with drop-shipping as long as they meet certain numbers.

I have purchased several guns from Buds Gun Shop and have always been pleased with their service and delivery.  I wouldn't hesitate to order from them.

bought from them many times over the years.  Never any issues and always a good price.  I buy local if they have it and are remotely competitive but I've never had any issues from Bud's.  They drop ship from the mfg or distributer but I've never had a single issue and all deliveries have been fast and reliable.   I assume with any gun purchase that if there is an issue that I have to take that up with the mfg anyway.   I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.

That's total BS, I  would have told them the same thing.

My dealing with them was at least 5 years ago and shortly after that I stopped transfers/sales and just did gunsmith work, so I haven't dealt with them since.

The negative comments encouraged me to check my order history with Buds, eight orders in the last 12 months, some of those were ammo orders...no issues. Guess I'm just lucky. They do occasionally get a photograph wrong on their website, but they show a manufacture's model number on their listings, and I have found those to be correct on the items I have ordered. I do have to ship my firearm orders to an FFL like many others here, that doesn't add too much to price since Buds often ships for free. I wouldn't promote any business online because you can always have a bad experience, when you buy from a local you get a better feeling of security for sure, unfortunately I live in small town Texas and driving anywhere to purchase what you want cost extra fuel money.

Just to buy the 73 (this was when the new Winchester were about to come out) you had to pay $50 to join their silver member club to pre order one.
I took it as fas a I could I ended up finding out later when a customer bought a gun that I was black listed and they would not ship to me. Oh well.

I've purchased several toys from Bud Gun Shop over the last couple years and have only had good experiences. Would buy from them again.

Bought several guns from them. They delivered fine.

My only issue was on the layaway: the moment you put something on layaway, that;s it. Change your mind and they keep your entire deposit.

There's also a program called shoot now pay later or something like that. AVOID unless you are definitley gonna pay within their allotted time for avoiding fees. I forgot if it was 30 or 90 days. I payed mine off the last day, totally by chance, and the person told me I would hgave incurred a lot of fees if I had gone longer. It's some kind of lease. Don;t know how that works, but you will wind up paying a good deal more money if you wait.

They're usually easy to beat.

If you don't have any carrying cost, add that $5 to the saving in shipping and transfer fees and you have a reasonable gross profit.

Buds Price:

Gun $500

Shipping $15

Transfer fee (assuming you're reasonable) $30

Your Price:

Gun $500

Shipping $0

Transfer fee $0

You meet their price at $545...you make $50 on a $500 gun with no carrying costs.

Easy Peasy

Phantom

PS: If you're looking for more than 5-10% on new gun sales you'd better up yer game on the purchasing side...but usually the big outlets such as Bud, Family Firearms etc. might get their product 1-3% cheaper...unless they are part of a Buyers Group.

I've purchased two firearms from Bud's. The first one was a Savage .22mag, shipping was fast, no complaints. The second was a single trigger Stoeger Coach for my wife. Ordered it and two weeks later still hadn't shipped. Called their customer service line and the gal I spoke with basically said that due to the scarcity of that model, they didn't have it inventory, yet, but were expecting a shipment soon. It wound up taking six weeks to get. I wasn't impressed that they would list and sell a firearm that they didn't have in inventory, but were selling the inventory that they had on order.

Like others have said, support your local LGS. I'd rather spend an extra $20 or $50 and keep them in business than save a buck and see them go out of business.

The conclusion I came to. Plus, I often had something to trade in. Helps on sales tax in Missouri.  Only pay sales tax on difference.
