  1. I'm glad to hear printed books are now being provided. For anyone wondering where the theme of the match came from, I did a little googling and found this:
  2. Thanks for sharing this! That is a really great shooters book, I can tell time and effort was put into it.
  3. For all of those that say they don't mind printing their own, what if the digital copy of the shooters book is a PDF and it is laid out to print 50 single pages. I know you select only the pages you want, but would you rather the shooters book come to you in a Word file so you can play around with the formatting and create a nice little book that fold together and can be stapled, or is 8.5 x 11 single sheets fine for you? If you are a sponsor, how would you feel about no book being provided? If shooters print their own, they are likely to leave out the sponsor pages when they print to save paper, how do you feel about that? Doesn't seem like a fair shake for the sponsors to me. There are a lot of places to save money in a big match, skipping shooters books are not the place in my opinion. Raise the match fee by $5 if you need to in order to provide shooters books. I want the dang book in my shooters packet when I check in!
  4. Maybe I'm the oddball here, but I do not own and printer and will not buy one. I've had several printers and none of them were ever any good past a few months.
  5. How important do you think it is to have a printed shooters handbook provided to the shooter for a State Championship match or higher? How would you feel if you were told no printed shooters hand book will be provided, you must print your own at home or download it to your phone? Are shooters handbooks important to you? I personally like having one so I can walk the stages prior to the match and make notes about how I want to shoot the stages. I like recording my time in the book after each stage. I save all of my shooters handbooks from every match I attend. During a posse marshal walkthrough, I make notes in the handbook about clarifications and other tidbits. If the PM is not provided a shooters book and does not have a printer at home, are they supposed to remember the clarifications? That seems troublesome. I say they are very important and should be provided. What do you say?
  6. Yes...IF...the shooter missed a rifle target that was up, then reengaged the same target when the instructions did not allow for such. No...IF... the shooter hit all other targets and "shot where it was" on the target blown down by the wind.
  7. "The first three rounds knock down the first three targets. Shooter misses the fourth target with the fourth shot. Shooter re-engages the fourth target, knocks it down and then knocks down the remaining targets." Seems clear enough based off the information given.
  8. I think this is a P, but it is tricky. The shooter missed with the pistol, but the instructions allow the shooter to re-engage missed pistol KD's. He does this, there fore no miss with the pistol. The shooter misses a rifle target and re-engages it knocking it down. The instructions did not allow rifle misses to be made up because there are 10 rounds and 10 KD's. Did not shoot the rifle string IAW stage instructions. I may be wrong...wouldn't be the first time
  9. It's not hard to make an online payment either. Change is inevitable.
  10. That's a fact! I'm feel pretty fortunate to be able to learn from TW, Randy, Reno Mustang, Dodge City Dixie, and so many others at Wartrace.
  11. Thanks Randy. I love to shoot with Deadwood miner and am always happy to help him keep playing this game with us!
  12. This is the whole point of this thread. It is not a deal breaker for people who grew up like this, but it very well may be a deal breaker for the younger generations we need to bring into this game to keep it going. Either we adapt to new modern ways or this game dries up and dies. We have to meet people where they are, not where you or I may be.
  13. You do have a first rate website for the SC State match, I'm very impressed. I will be shooting the match this year and would love to talk about how you do it if you'll have a few minutes to spare. I'm a big fan of paying match fees, dues, and other things online if at all possible. I want to bring what you've done to the clubs in my area.
  14. We can make that happen. My dad, Wild Phil Hickok, has done a lot of professional photography. I'll have him bring his nice camera for the photo.
  15. I love what you are doing with these family threads! I had the great pleasure of being on a posse with the Hart family at Land Run 2023. Hayfever Hart and Thin Mint have two great kids (twins) that shoot matches with them. Calmity Gray and Hawkeye Hart. The whole family is so much fun to shoot with and they bring a great deal of joy to all who are fortunate enough to be on their posse. Here's a video clip of the two kids shooting at Land Run 2023:
  16. In the scenario written above, I would say shooter A has a P and a SOG. Shooter B did not try to gain a competitive advantage, they just didn't know what to do. They get a P and a little discussion about how they should do it differently in the future.
  17. My application is going in the mail tomorrow.
  18. I really did enjoy Land Run in 2023...maybe I should shoot it twice this year
  19. My name is there twice. My application went through quickly and easily on the first try, so I know it is not due to multiple submissions.
