We may be kin.

Many horse shows do it as a way to attract more entries. Highest point earner or money earner in each class gets a prize. Most have prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. If you get known for having good year end awards, the awards pay for themselves in additional entries throughout the year. Some clubs will also have a small circuit award too. Maybe a buckle for the high point earner, in a particular class that they are trying to promote, for all of the club shows in June, July, and August. Call it a summer circuit award. It can promote a specific class or just get more people to show up in the heat of summer. I could see it as a way for a SASS club to entice people to try Cody/Dixon or WB for a three month trial period or something like that.

Knew a couple of guys back in the mid 70s that made a couple of drug runs and then just quit. Made over a years pay for a couple hours work. At least one took all of the money he made and invested it. I think it made his life easier since he didn't have to save as much from each paycheck. Big risk, but I guess if you get away with it the pay is good.

Heat treating facilities use it frequently to slow cool parts.

I have one and would buy another one with no regrets. May buy another one anyway just for a backup.

I really like the pair on the top photo. My wife has a pair just like the second one that she still uses when riding. But, I really like both of the spur straps. Your boys will be very well turned out in those boots and spurs.

I did consider that a telescope would not be the most convenient choice, but I only shoot in my backyard so that makes it an option. I also only shoot the longer ranges a couple of times a month so that makes setup time less of an issue too. I do appreciate you bringing this up though. I would hate to have not thought about it and then buy a telescope that I found to be too much of a pain to use. The rifle scope works OK out to about 200 yards, but at 400 I can't see the bullet holes too well. If the telescope idea doesn't pan out the worse case is that I buy a good spotting scope. I was just hoping to get something that I could use for more than one purpose.

Yes sir. I know that I'll need to spend some coin to get a scope that will work well, especially with my old eyes. That's why I would like to find something that can serve more than just one purpose. I also agree with purchasing a really good tripod. I did photography for many years and still have a good tripod left from those days. The problem will be finding someplace to look through a lot of telescopes. I live near Houston, so there is probably a store that specializes in telescopes, but I don't know where it is. There used to be one on the south side, but that was 30 years ago. I don't think it's still there. If I just get a spotting scope that should not be a problem. I know of a few long range shooting clubs that I can go to and ask around.

I loaded all of my 30-06 ammo for hunting with the lee loader for about 25 years. Don't shoot much with my hunting rifle, so didn't need to load much to keep me supplied for a year. Easily shot MOA with those hand loads. It's not fast, but it can do a great job. I have seen a couple of people at the range using one to develop loads while they are shooting.

I haven't used it with pins, but I have washed a lot of brass with this. Shines them up nice and the wax keeps it shiny for a pretty long time. You can add a little Lemi Shine if the brass is really dirty to help shine it up too.

Almost had me fooled too. Pink is not my color, but someone, or a couple of someones, is going to get a hella good deal.

Upside down and backwards is no problem. I spent many years doing photography with a large format view camera which works the same way. Could you expand on the quoted comment above? I'm not sure what you are trying to tell me. Thanks.

Have any of you tried using a celestial/terrestrial telescope as a spotting scope? I have added a new berm out at 400 yards and am in need of a new spotting scope. I was hoping that I could possibly find one that would serve the dual purpose. If any of you have used, or tried to use one, I would like to hear your thoughts. Any information as to appropriate makes and models would also be much appreciated.
