Holy thread hijacker, Batman!

According to the Urban Dictionary, thread hijacking is:

When a person starts a posting on a message board, or forum, or Facebook, that others are able to comment on, that original posting and the comments on it are called a thread. A thread hijacking occurs when one or more individuals commenting on the original posting, go off topic, creating a separate conversation. This is rude, and bad internet etiquette. If people want to discuss a different topic, they should start their own thread.

Please take note.

I call it normal adult conversation.  Conversations wander and meander, often going far afield.  But you can follow the steps and see that there is usually a reasonable progression from, say, the touchstone to nuclear weapons.  Much like the James Burke "Connections."

just on a smaller scale.

A check in the win column. Any hunters here?

Like Joe says, 'threads' are conversations. They meander where they may.

That's why I don't mind if my threads get high jacked.  I may express surprise at the direction a thread has taken, but it doesn't bother me

I find many of the diversions add to the original post and we all learn something from them. Also short of PMing a Pard that mentioned something in an answer to the OP, the odds of that person seeing a new post may also be limited. Folks on the forum have a lot of knowledge and experience to share, grab while it's hot!

Whiskey in eggnog was a bit harsh.

I added chocolate cherry Bailey's and some milk, and that tamed it down nicely.

Besides, chocolate chips and walnuts make fine additions to my morning oats!

My mom always had cats. One particular Siamese would invariably climb the Christmas tree any time that nobody was there to run it off.

After about three crashes, the first year, my dad put an eye bolt in the ceiling and wired the tree to it!

After a couple more tries at toppling the tree, the damned cat quit climbing it!

Years ago with our male "Ruger". Dumbass me hid my moose mount in the corner behind a 16' tree and waited for him to notice it! Won't do that again!

That sounds tasty!  I'm not a fan of distilled spirits in eggnog or coffee (other than Irish Coffee).  As you said, it's a bit harsh.
