Marshal Dan Troop 70448 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Driving back from the Beach today, this was playing on Sirius, Fernando by ABBA. Had forgotten how good their harmony was. Had us both humming during and afterwards.
LawMan Mark, SASS #57095L Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Loved ABBA. Dancing Queen! Best memory of Fernando was the episode of Malcolm in the Middle where the youngest kid, Dewey, was helping out an elderly woman and they danced to Fernando.

Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Absolutely and unashamedly yes. One of my favorite groups right up there with The Kingston Trio and The Oak Creek Boys for sing along perfection.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Great harmonies and some pretty good tunes. I never bought their albums but I listened when they were on the radio.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Super Trouper, the most misunderstood and misspelled song title in history.
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Sherron and I loved their music. I find now, my hearing is bad and many of the notes escape me. Even when I try to play the pipes, things sound off. Hopefully, the hearing aids I'm getting will help a little. Sucks getting old.
Blackwater 53393 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Never was a big fan. Ain’t bad, but they were/are too sugary for my taste. Heart is/was a stronger more talented female act and also far more instrumentally accomplished. I never caught the “soft rock” bug. Just wasn’t/isn’t my cup of tea.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Music is music. Regardless of the genre. Different tastes.
Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Music OK. But got dragged to Mama Mia, the movie, and suffered.

Because of your post I looked it up. I heard the song before, but I had no idea what they were saying. For those that are too lazy to look it up, super trouper is a spotlight.
Okie Sawbones, SASS #77381 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 I liked their music up until 79-80, when they got weird. They eventually broke up in 82. Fernando is still my favorite song of theirs.
Tex Jones, SASS 2263 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 "...money, money, money it's a rich man's world... They're never going away. Hologram concert, ABBA Voyage.
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 I would like to see their hologram show in London.
Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 saw them on TV when they performed Dancing Queen in front of King and Queen of Sweden. Queen really liked them one of my favorites, but then so is Marty Robbins, with a Big Iron on his Hip

Trailrider #896 Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 When they cross the Rio Grande, which way were they going?

With a name like Fernando, obviously they were going north. They were going to pick grapes and lettuce. And Fernando had a 22 rifle to shoot jackrabbits to feed themselves as they was going through the desert.
Trailrider #896 Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Those girls were a couple of cuties! However, I wonder what that "something in the air that night" might have been? Mary Jane's perfume? Oh, well, if they were headed for Colorado, they wouldn't have had anything illegal.
Capt. James H. Callahan Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Good song. ABBA had some great music, some deep ones mixed in with all the fluff, like Fernando. Two of my other favorites were The Winner Takes It All and Knowing Me Knowing You. If you've ever been through a divorce or even a break up they hit you. If you've ever walked thru the empty house and the old familiar rooms where children used to play, you'll get it. JHC
Capt. James H. Callahan Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Laura Branigan did this one as well or better in an obscure recording. JHC

Trailrider #896 Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 Now you've done it! I've got "Fernando" buzzing around in my head all day!

Dantankerous Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 Listened to it once yesterday. Then twice. Then looked up the lyrics and listened a third time. Great tune. Somewhat haunting yet pretty and almost memorizing.
Capt. James H. Callahan Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Stinky videos (in their infancy of course) but good music. JHC
