Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217
Hi Folks, I hope you see this before it is removed as was one of my posts. The SHB says the following about aliases, "The alias must be “printable” before a wide audience (family friendly!)." What do you think of an alias that is a sexual innuendo? Should it be allowed, or not? What brought about the "bees in my bonnet" is that I noticed a Wire poster just changed his (official or so I was told) alias to a sexual innuendo. I have not nor have I ever (remember I was a Moderator) had an issue with him. It is just that I think his new alias is inappropriate for our sport. Furthermore, it does not present well to the internet world. It looks crude and rude to me. Regards, Allie
Phantom, SASS #54973
Oh come on now Allie Mo, don'tcha know that some folks like to pretend that they are back in Jr. High School? Phantom PS: If it's blatantly obvious...I'm against it.

Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217
BTW, I received a PM whose sender guessed which alias I was referring to. He didn't say yay or nae about allowing it. He just asked if that was the one. So, I know he got the sexual innuendo part.
The Rainmaker, SASS #11631
A while back (Mule Camp days) there was a couple that had some suggestive aliases; in poor taste. My opinion.

Tyrel Cody
I didn't detect any sexual innuendo about the recently changed alias, until this thread was started. I personally think it's a stretch to say that's sexual and I've seen worse; besides the S.A.S.S. office approved it, so it must be O.K. Now that I think about it though, that explains why the school's dress code outlawed all my old Big Johnson Racing T-Shirts.

J. Mark Flint #31954 LIFE
Not everyone in this sport is so easily offended. Are you upset by Sheriff Woody too? Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438
Ah, the age of innocence!!!! Is it sexually suggestive if you didn't get the "hidden" meaning? Did you give it a meaning that was never intended? In junior high school, we called a particularly masculine girl "Mo", as a shortened form of "Homo"(sexual). It's all a matter of interpretation. I really don't find anything objectionable about the new alias; it's clever (in a way), and has a non-sexual meaning (three foot of barrels on his new pistols) unless you read more into it. We have probably given it more attention in this thread than it would otherwise have generated. Live and let live. Our kids will hear and see much worse at school, in the movies, and among their friends at Sunday school. LL
Matthew Duncan
IF SASS is still to be a family activity, then I agree with miss Allie 100%. IF SASS approved it then either they didn't catch the innuendo or if they did, they are in need of the cash so they let it slide.

Three Foot Johnson
Uh oh... Sheriff Woody along with Buffalo Dick and Dusty Morningwood also come to mind. Probably a few others if I think about it a bit. Imagine if I had gone with Foot And A Half Johnson... I never cared much for J Bar Binks, and the idea for the new name came from a real-life character during the gold rush days who noticed a claim that appeared to be too long. Turned out it was, by about seven feet. He came to be known as Seven Foot Johnson, and made a fortune off the tiny claim. I adapted it to my guns, and thought it would also be kind of funny for a six and a half foot man. I don't reckon I've seen a porn movie since my Navy days, but... THREE FEET? Seriously?? Three Foot Johnson
Even with the 10" drop on those holsters, it works better to twist my hands inward as I draw, then rotate them back as they clear leather. I ain't very fast, but it's a crowd pleaser. The fast shooters get attention by being fast, I get it by shooting oddball stuff - the Buntlines, a side-swing shotgun, a Darne shotgun, Spencer, etc. Hopefully an Evans in the not too distant future. The criteria should be, (1) is a pre-pubescent child going to get the gag, and (2) if they are going to get it, why are they getting it? The term "Johnson" for example - if a child gets that reference, it's because either they picked it up in school or their parents use the term ("Johnson" was the preferred term in our household). So I would have gotten it as a child - but my folks would have been OK with me getting it, so no harm done.
Assassin
There was an old west character, Bloody Dick. He was from England and used the term "Bloody" quite frequently and his name was "Dick". The locals named him and he became a legend. You can even rent his old cabin, I think up in the Gallatin Mountains of Montana, the "Bloody Dick" cabin. Wonder why no one has taken that alias. Cypress Sun
I'm not offended by 3' Johnson or any of the other aliases supposedly sexual in nature. Sorry Allie, if kids can read sexual innuendos into a name then it's they who have the "dirty" mind. Might ask though, what kid over the age of 10 doesn't?
