Nostalgic Things

Here are 29 photos of items from yesteryear. I remember them all. I am not sure if I actually miss any of them. ;)

How many do you remember?
Do you have any to add?

#4 - I used to love those tables and chairs. If I could find a new set today I would buy them.

#7 - We still use a crock pot, but it’s a modern one.

#8 - I have one sitting in my kitchen on a shelf. Occasionally I use it. I don’t care what anyone says, perked coffee tastes better than drip.
Think about it. What do you call someone that’s all milquetoast? A drip. What do you call someone that vibrant and full of life? Perky:D

Except for number 19. I don't recognize it.

I have several of those things, and almost bought one of those aluminum percolators of the yard sale yesterday. If it had been stainless steel I would have.

I remember, owned or lived in houses/apartments with all those items.

I still have and occasionally use items 5, 6, 7*, 8*, 10, 15, 17 and 21.

I still use the exact model of item 7 on my nightstand.

The exact model of item 8 was on my gals nightstand until last month when it finally died.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.:)

I remember them all, but we never had 19 & 22! Repaired many of them over the years!! Both as a job and because I don't throw anything away!

@Tennessee Trapper Tom I just found these filters and ordered them on Amazon. I ran out and couldn’t find them in stores anywhere.

We didn't use these just added fresh grounds on top of old ones dump out when couldn't hold any more.

They take the acid out of the coffee. Makes for a better cup of coffee.

Thankee, y'all.

That was way before my time. Mama's washing machine was always square.

And with nothing in that picture for scale, I thought it was some kind of tabletop appliance, like that popcorn popper or the Crock-Pot. You know, something from the '70s or '80s. Like those other pictures.

Earlier ones had a hand crank wringer and were powered by little 2 stroke engines!

That's where the old saying " don't get your ti.....um apron ya apron caught in the wringer" came from.

My Mom used one of those wringer washers until I was in 6th grade. 1971. After that we went to the Laundromat. Those damn wringer washers were dangerous. If you got a loose shirtsleeve in those wringers they could pull your hand / arm right in. They didn’t have a safety cutout.

Washing machine with a wringer arm.

My mom had one until 1962 when she finally bought a modern washer and dryer. She still used it for heavy blankets or throw rugs etc. even with the new washer.
