The HR director at my work tried to pull this one on me during an all hands meeting one time (She and I had a few minor run ins prior.) Since I knew of this, I rapidly rattled off all of the right answers and she had to backtrack and explain to the attendees that most people will say the word and not the color of the word. :P

Ah yes, my first swimming lessons

Damn near drowned until the drawstring broke on that burlap bag.

The follow up lessons were even better! Guess how long I can hold a cinder block underwater!

In the 50's too!

BTDT.

I took a few swimming lessons and could not master it. Then, while taking lessons at a State Park lake, the instructor did just that - he threw me into 10+ feet of water and I learned very quickly!

Taking a journalism class back in High School, we were instructed in the importance of correct spelling. Webster's Dictionary the "the" reference for it.

Webster went through all the words in it and removed things like the "u" in color and many other changes. I could not help but think that our the spelling reference was filled with intentional misspellings.

Which could have led to:

For example, in Year 1 that useless letter c would be dropped to be replased either by k or s, and likewise x would no longer be part of the alphabet. The only kase in which c would be retained would be the ch formation, which will be dealt with later.

Year 2 might reform w spelling, so that which and one would take the same konsonant, wile Year 3 might well abolish y replasing it with i and Iear 4 might fiks the g/j anomali wonse and for all.

Jenerally, then, the improvement would kontinue iear bai iear with Iear 5 doing awai with useless double konsonants, and Iears 6-12 or so modifaiing vowlz and the rimeining voist and unvoist konsonants.

Bai Iear 15 or sou, it wud fainali bi posibl tu meik ius ov thi ridandant letez c, y and x — bai now jast a memori in the maindz ov ould doderez — tu riplais ch, sh, and th rispektivli.

Fainali, xen, aafte sam 20 iers ov orxogrefkl riform, wi wud hev a lojikl, kohirnt speling in ius xrewawt xe Ingliy-spiking werld.

I don't know what  the English would think of "Australian" and how we have desecrated the English language :)

German has about 385 dialects, not including the Swiss German and Austrian German dialects.  I wonder which one they chose..................

I doubt that it'd be the Australian German dialect.   😉

My mother told me that she took German in college. And the instructor told the class that no matter how hard they worked in class they would not be able to speak German correctly.

Plattdeutsch vs. Hochdeutsch.
