Sixgun Sheridan
So they only have a mass shooting on average of once every 30 years, and that is reason enough to pass strict new gun laws? Just more proof that no matter how strict gun laws are they will never be strict enough for some people.
Pat Riot
Gee, we couldn’t ban criminals and criminal behavior. That would be inhumane. Prison on should be horrible. Second offense, horrific. Third offense, death. Simple.

Joke 'um
Two Kiwis get together at the pub: Kiwi 1 - "Hey mate, what's on for t'night?" Kiwi 2 - "Thought I'd mosey over to the (church, mosque, synagogue) an' shoot some people." Kiwi 1 - "No, mate, can't do that. Tough minded liberal pols have passed common sense gun laws." Kiwi 2 - "Oh . . .hmmm . . . 'Ow 'bout some darts?" For cryin' out loud! Isn't mass murder already against the law in New Zealand?

Smoken D
Maybe they need stricter laws against killing people. Or at least a law against killing people, that should stop any violence.

Utah Bob #35998
It seems the police response was very slow. the guy carried on the killing for quite a while. Some things need to change. No police force can afford to not be prepared for something like this. There are no safe places anywhere.

Very hard for unarmed police force to effectively counter a deranged individual that is armed with a bow and a large supply of arrows much less firearms. Unfortunately this factoid will be covered up.
Blackwater 53393
It NEVER ceases to amaze me when law enforcement agencies choose to go un-armed in the face of today's criminal element! This is optimistic IDIOCY!! Just the thought that an armed criminal will meekly surrender to an un-armed "authority figure" simply because said figure displays a badge and commands the thug to cease and desist surpasses any level of abject stupidity that one could imagine!! Between worldwide threats from terrorism and the same level of violent drug and contraband activity, not to mention just lowlife criminal violence, one would surmise that personal weaponry for law enforcement would be the order of the day!! Anything else would be complete and utter DUMBASS!!!

Most Aussies you speak to are surprised the NZ laws are what they are and most assumed they were similar to ours (obviously not those who have travelled or shot there) The real part that hurts is that the shooter was an Australian (I think he lived off and on in NZ for 3 or 4 years?) and some Kiwis (the Mayor of Christchurch for one) have commented that this was an imported crime but they will be the ones who have to deal with the consequences. All very sad and I feel for the loss of innocence that NZ once layed claim to.
