How many of you have become “SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED”?

Recommended Posts

I woke up a little early this morning. I have an appointment with the orthotics specialist today to get fitted for my new footwear.

After a few minutes, gathering up the other shoes that I have to bring with me, I started getting “dressed”.

I put on the usual T shirt and put my belt, my holster, and my biker watch in the jeans I am wearing today.

If I were going out to the shop, I’d probably put on my knee brace because it relieves the stress on the badly worn joint when I’m on concrete, standing and walking. Not today, but usually.

I have another brace/apparatus to correct the foot drop in my left foot, the bad one, that attaches to my boot/shoe.  I wear it if I’m going to be walking a lot.  Today I’m just driving and will only take a few steps, three or four times all day, so it stays home.

Next, I put in my hearing aids and grab my phone to adjust the volume and filters.

Then I put on my shoes and socks. Not out of the ordinary for anyone, but still…

On the way out the door, I’ll grab a pair of reading glasses so’s I can see the fine print on the obligatory paper work that comes with any of these adventures.

I’ll pick up and holster my EDC , pausing to check the magazine and the chamber.

Finally, I will put on my ball cap and sunglasses!!

Ya’ never think about this stuff until, one morning, you see that you’re spending fifteen or twenty minutes just getting ready to go to the car!!

YEPPER!!  Like the Marshal, I too have a "Checklist."  I have to laugh at myself as I remember all the "Checklists" from the days I was a Pilot.  My memory is shot and without my "Copilot" going over the checklist, I'll forget something I really need.  Unfortunately, "they" forgot to issue us an Operations Manual for getting OLD.  It's a RPITA.

Gotta include turning off all the windows on your cell phone so you don't use up minutes while you are out of wifi range.

Some of you seem to have the wrong idea!!  This is funny as all get out!!

Since I refuse to just fold my tent,  I have gathered some damned fine equipment to keep my life the way I want it!!

There are days when I don’t do ANY of this, when I just kick back and let the world go by.  Other days, I put on my armor and gird my loins and do battle the way I always have!!  B)

OLG’s borg line fits SO PERFECTLY that it emphasizes the humor of the situation!!

I learned a LOOOOONNNNG time ago that “you might as well LAUGH ‘cause it doesn’t do one damned bit of good to cry about it!”  <_<

If you remember the old Burt Reynolds movie “Hooper” and the opening scene, you get my drift!!

Just before bed, I roll up my summer shorts, t-shirt and skivvies and place the roll beside the bedroom door.
Up at 4, out of bed around 5, grab the roll and the glasses on the head board.

Weigh my fat ass, get dressed, pour of cup of coffee made the night before.

Start the lawn and planter irrigation systems, read the news.
Laugh hard at Hunter Biden convicted of all three felonies...

Wake up, out of bed and slip through the 300 lbs. of dogs that guard my sleep.  Get into a pair of jeans and socks.  Turn on the computer and grab some OJ.  Check a site I administer, fix what  needs fixing.  Cruise through my regular favorite sites to see what fell schemes my ideological foes announced since the previous night.  Breakfast and whatever tasks are up for the day.

ONLY fifteen or twenty minutes?  Takes more like an hour when you count in brushing your teeth, toilet duties, shampooing, combing, etc. your hair, getting your AM medicines sorted out, topicals for arthritis pain, etdamncetera......and then trying to find where you put your car keys, cell phone, Life Alert gizmo, and all the rest.  Then there's turning around to go back and get whatever you forgot: coupons, shopping lists, addresses, membership discount cards...you know what I mean.

F'rinstance, I went to Safeway this morning.  Got my shopping list out and found NO PEN OR PENCIL anywhere to mark of the stuff on the list as I put it in the cart.

Somehow we still get by................mostly!

Not yet, thank Heavens.  Petey has never fully appreciated how little prep it takes to get me out the door.

Because of me and all the health crap she's been through in the last 2 years.

They took her off the oxygen this afternoon and she can stay above 88 on her own, she might be able to come home tomorrow! Yay
