Good Morning Blackwater, Prayers up again for a quick recovery. Hope Schoolmarm is improving.

They’re giving her massive fluid infusions and adding electrolytes and potassium to correct the ph balance.  She has improved some, but it’s still not under control.

 

I spent most of the last two days with her at the hospital and I think they’re doing all that they can.  I’m hopeful.

 

It’s a little after 8:30 and I’m waiting on my clothes to dry so that I can get dressed and head back to the hospital.

Just spoke with one of the doctors, the kidney specialist.  He says that she is improving, albeit slowly.  They are still administering fluids and have added a unit of blood to raise her hemoglobin, which had dropped.  We had discussed the need for dialysis, but he thinks that it can be avoided for now. They’re going to push fluids and try to get her to eat and drink more on her own and see what happens over the weekend.

 

She sounds much better and seems stronger. Much more comfortable, at least it appears that way.  She ate a little of the pancakes they brought for breakfast and is drinking some juice and water on her own.

 

My local cowboy friends are here to support and I’m doing my best to maintain.

I'm reading your last and there's encouragement: such signs as eating -- speaks to coordination, mentation, motor control -- drinking on her own -- again, as just stated -- when you say she sounds much better, you know her better than anyone and would be the best judge of that parameter: same with your observation of her increased strength.

I'm also seeing your self care, such things as your entry, "Waiting for my clothes to dry so I can get dressed ...." -- please, my friend, continue take care of YOU as well, and a blessing on the local cowboys you mentioned that are there for you!

I’m sitting outside of the ER right now.  My own issues seem to be getting the better of me.

 

Nurse called for a wheelchair and they brought me down here.  Waiting to see doctor.

 

still got my wits about me. I will follow up when I know more.

The Latest!!

 

They got me checked out and did some testing.  My infection is being handled with the new antibiotic.  Blood work showed no signs of the infection spreading.  The EKG looked fine.  I saw two doctors, both of whom told me to go get a damned good meal and get some rest.

 

When I got back to Schoolmarm’s room, she was visibly better! She had eaten some apple cobbler and was drinking iced tea. Her color is better, the nurse said that her kidneys appeared to be improving, and she had called Hatfield to tell him that they were taking me to the ER.

 

I am at home now, for the evening, and Hatfield fixed up a couple of pizzas!!!

 

Somebody’s listening!!  Y’all got it going on!!

GOOD NEWS!!  

 

They have moved Schoolmarm out of ICU into a private room!!

 

She still has some ph issues, but it’s a major improvement.  Still receiving fluids, her vitals are good and stable, and her breathing continues to improve.

I’m doing a little bit better. They checked me out yesterday and decided that I was in dire need of rest and a good meal.  Otherwise, unless things change for me, my issues can wait until Schoolmarm’s are resolved.

 

The Wartrace gang and those outlaws that hang out up at Ponderosa Pines are always lookin’ out for me!
