How in the world would you fence a 13 million dollar wrist watch?

Plot in a TV show. Airline stewardess is ready to retire, but the airline restructured and did away with their pensions. So she decides to steal a $13 million wrist watch from a passenger.

Now I can see maybe stealing a couple of $5,000 Rolexes, and fencing them. But a $13 million watch. Hell, a $13 million anything. How would you go about knowing how to turn it into money?

Wait a couple of years and sell it for 1/2 million.

Remember, greed is a sin.

Howdy,

This problem of selling expensive stolen items has come up

in many shows.  Not like one can tear a painting into parts and sell em.

Could work with jewels.  Or melt gold.

Imagine melting a 20,000 dollar gold coin into a 2000 dollar gold lump.

There is a dime auctioned at 1.5 million.

Break it into a million 13 dollar watches......

Go to an overseas US Navy base.  Stand outside the gate.  Say, "Hey, Joe.  Buy watch?" repeatedly.

She is a stewardess, fly to a flashy oil inheritance area, like Dubai.  Lots of cash, like to show off, not big on paperwork.

How do you sell a 13 million dollar stolen watch?  A piece at a time.

Patek Phillippe do a background check on potential buyers.  They want to make sure the buyer has the financial ability to maintain the watch and the family stability to ensure it is properly passed down.  (They also frown on e-bay ads for their stuff.)  Most of their stuff is under a million.

A $13,000,000 watch?  How would you even qualify to steal it?

Wait for the owner (or their insurance company) to offer a "no questions asked" reward ....

Otherwise ... see if you can find anyone .. anywhere .. that really thinks the watch is worth 1/13th of that ... (like that pawn shop show on tv) ...
