Hillary's Deplorables are being hunted

Recommended Posts

“The Hunt” is billed as a dark satire about a group of privileged vacationers hunting "deplorables" for sport and is set to open September 27.

Certain ads for the R-rated film from Universal Studios have been pulled off the air this week following the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton but the trailer remains online.

Imagine the uproar if the plot was the exact opposite. But I guess as long as it's "deplorables" being offended it's okay.

I'm afraid when the Red Flag laws pass, we'll be disarmed pretty quick. I work with a bunch of liberals that would love to turn me in.

Are “deplorables” the new bourgeoisie?

I heard there was an uproar but I think it sounds like an interesting movie.  Not like it's the first time we've explored the idea of hunting a human.  Hard target comes to mind as well as an episode of magnum PI.

Thru out history socialist would point to a group of people and blame them for everyone's problems,  hitler said it was the Jews fault,  evidently a conservative is the scapegoat group this time.  They pick someone to blame and rally the country against the group to create unity and gain support for new laws that get passed

It isn't the hunting of human, per se, that is causing the backlash.  It's the use of the term "deplorables" for the objects of the hunt.  Hollywood is well known for its backing of a certain political persuasion.  Couple that with that same political persuasions recent presidential candidate and her classifying those opposed to her (OK, half of those opposed to her) as "deplorables" and there is a moderately clear message.  Add in the Sanders supporter who shot up the GOP congressional baseball squad, and the violent rhetoric - and actual violence from the black-clad Sturmabteilung - and this movie is likely to inspire more, and more lethal, violence.

As others have pointed out, imagine the hue and cry if the pejorative reflected some negative epithet used against leftists.

Oh!  I forgot to mention that the senior US Senator from California says that it is legal to hunt people as long as you use "large capacity ammunition feeding devices."

A friend of my fathers, who was a small town marshal, many years ago would often use the following quote after a particularly difficult arrest or intervention. Don't remember who first said it but certainly applies:

"If a man chooses to show you the darkness and evil in his heart, you should believe him"

I suspect the film will be nominated for multiple academy awards for its timely, progessive  plot  and will develop a cult following among antifas.  My hope is that it is a financial failure and those that made it lose their shirts.

Well, maybe:

Quote

But in a statement released to Fox News on Saturday, a Universal Pictures spokesperson said: “While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film.

“We stand by our filmmakers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release this film.”

Again, if the implied political poles had been reversed the press would have been calling it a racist, extremist call for violence.

So they may still release it, but without fanfare.  Netflicks, anyone?

There are no official plans for the future of "The Hunt." It could still be released at a later date or move to a streaming service.

The movie featured Betty Gilpin and Oscar-winner Hilary Swank, was written by Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof and directed by Craig Zobel.

It was billed as a satirical take on wealthy liberal thrill-seekers taking a private jet to a five-star resort where they embark on a “deeply rewarding” expedition that involves hunting down and killing designated humans.

Those designated humans being “MAGA types" as described by The Hollywood Reporter. “Nothing better than going out to the Manor and slaughtering a dozen deplorables," a character says, according to THR.

The term was originally coined by Hillary CIinton during the 2016 election as a derogatory reference to Trump supporters. The movie was reportedly going to be called, "Red State vs. Blue State," at first.

I find this rather dismissive comment interesting:

Quote

Variety reported on Saturday morning that Swank said she wouldn't discuss the film while at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. “No one’s seen the film. You can’t really have a conversation about it without understanding what it’s about," she said.

That being translated, "Anyone not of the proper sort simmmmply can't understand our message."  We understand what it's about, sweetheart, it is about the intolerant elitists like yourself giving in to your violent natures.

Agree to disagree on being upset by this movie.  In every other iteration of this trope that I've seen, the hunters were always demonized and the hunted were the heroes.  So if this movie were to get made, "MAGA types" would wind up being the heroes most likely.  It's probably worse that the idea is now out there and the movie doesn't get made.

So if a person was to make a movie about hunting naked and afraid liberals and label it as satire everybody on the left would laugh their asses off right? Probably not. The FBI, Homeland Security and every other government agency would be crawling all over them, but because its libs hunting conservatives it gets a pass. Sick.

Don’t care. It’s only a movie.

I’m more interested in seeing if Walmart knuckles under and stops selling guns. Wouldn’t surprise me.

I watched the clips on IMDB and the "deplorables" were portrayed as sympathetic heroes while the liberal elites were portrayed as evil and heartless. Pretty clear from what I saw the deplorables were the heroes who then break out and mete out justice to the elites.

This is probably why the plug was pulled.  If it went the other way I bet it would be coming soon.

I was confused by all the anger from conservatives about this movie. It would be like people being upset about a movie portraying Nazi's killing Jews - Schindler's List - because it promoted Nazi's and genocide. When of course the exact opposite is true.

Both true.  However, in the societal climate we have today, with politicians and the press openly calling for intimidation and violence agaisnt "deplorables" having a film released that says it is acceptable to hunt deplorables for sport should be unacceptable.  Even if it shows them as the good guys, the idea of hunting and killing deplorables is what will stick.  After all, my senile senior US Senator says it's legal to hunt people (yes, she really said it).

Also, look at how many shows and movies have been pulled for much less because they offended the delicate sensibilities of the enlightened classes. Time we used their methods against them.

But see that's the point.  Odds are the message of the movie is the exact opposite.  That it's NOT OK.  They're going to show the hunters to be villains, likely with no redeeming qualities.  With the movie not being made or released, now you're right, the idea of hunting deplorables is what's going to stick, not the message that it's bad.

There have been several movies of this type. The hunters are always the bad guys, and they’re usually rich, decadent, white guys hunting lower economic types or left wing hippies.

And the left's notion that Walmart should is just ridiculous but it is their tactic. Walmart was simply the venue where the shootings occurred. Yet somehow Walmart is responsible for these murders because they retail guns and therefore should stop selling firearms and ammunition.  It wouldn't matter one bit if Walmart had never sold guns and ammunition, those murders took place at Walmart not because they do or do not retail a specific product but because they were a populated venue for 1 crime and the employees were targeted there because they were easy to find for the shooter at the 2nd. I've watched a couple of interviews with obvious anti 2nd Amendment liberal American hating types who are just as much blaming Walmart for the acts of the murderers as they are the NRA. Amazing how the bait and switch works for the left.

Walmart is in competition with other big retailers and the internet retail giants. They know if they pull guns and ammunition from their stores it will hurt their bottom line damaging their competitiveness in the retail overall market. Dicks is a prime example that you know Walmart has followed with great interest.

The left is trying to get ammo pulled from Walmart's shelves. This is just one more step to keeping lawful Americans from buying what they want or need if it falls into the anti gun agenda. Walmart is a great place to buy inexpensive ammo. Internet ammo sales outlets will be next.

Walmart used to sell pistols. Not anymore. Walmart used to sell ARs. Not anymore.

I see a pattern.

Walmart was allowing unqualified people process DROS and making mistakes with paperwork.

I actually witnessed a Walmart employee in Stanton CA allow a guy to pay for a long gun fill out his paperwork and she was handing him the rifle when I spoke up and said she couldn’t do that. El Jeffe, the buyer got angry and threatened me in Spanish. I dialed 911 in English.

The girl behind the counter just stood there while Pendejo ranted at me as he was walking away.

The police arrived and the dude was gone.

The girl and the manager were stammering to the police.

I gave a statement and left.

The next day a detective called me and I gave him the story of what I saw. He told me that this Walmart’s gun sales have been suspended and that I may get a call or visit from the DOJ. That never happened. He did tell this very thing happened a number of times.

At the same time Walmart opened a store in Huntington Beach. They installed gun racks but the racks got removed.

The store in Stanton lost their gun license and that was that.

The antis are probably trying to pass laws requiring that every live cartridge be registered.
