  1. I have never seen so many insults in one thread. PS If you don't see them, it is because I hid them. Rudeness does not reflect well on our sport.

  3. Howdy, I am starting to accumulate a hefty collection of holster rigs. How do you cowboys and cowgirls hang or store your rigs when not using them? I'm looking for ideas on how to hang 6 rigs on the wall. If anyone does this, pictures would be much appreciated. Here's a picture of my gun room. I'm looking to hang them just to the left of the cabinets on the wall. Sorry it's not a closer picture. Thanks Raging Thunder

  4. I've been watching this discussion as I have others on this subject. Until now I haven't felt the need to contribute but I guess I will now. I started shooting(and joined) in 2003. In 2007 , I had to stop due to health and career conflicts. I let my membership lapse at that time. When I was able to I "re-join" , so to speak, in 2013 I called and found I could re-acquire my sass number and alias so I did. Although I'm hard pressed to quote tangible benefits to my membership, the intangible ones are the ones that matter to me! The people I've had the pleasure to compete and be associated with are one of the highlights of my life. I'm retired now and can travel to some annuals as well as EOT. I have and will continue to cherish the friendships and sense of community! Pm me and I'll be happy to elaborate. Thank you ALL,

  5. Why stop there? You can freegraze on this forum, and get all the rule updates and info without being a sass member. You hope that sass figures out a way to bring in new members, but the question is what are YOU doing to bring new members? You support non sass clubs, and encourage that, do you think that's helpful? What's in it for me attitude is whats wrong with succeeding at anything. Just stunned, Lunger

  6. Yeah, but it was not a good thing... Before I could stop myself I had shot him 10 times with the rifle, then slipped 10 more in from my handguns... ran up to him and hit him 4 more times with the shotgun. Then looked around and ask. "What was my time?"

  7. A buddy of mine had an Elmer Fudd hunt at his deer lease this year, and the requirement was you had to use older style lever or pump guns, no optics, I watched his father in law shoot a nice deer at 125 yds with one of those dang Lightning pump rifles in 45 Colt. One shot....dead where it stood, never would have believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes!

  8. I shot a nice fat doe with my original Model 92 in 38/40. It was my grandfathers gun so it really had special meaning for me.

  10. I made this for a hat rack at the back door. It would work for gun belts as well.

  11. Well ....... Humpff..... RT, Obviously, your not aware, a neat, clean, well ordered work space is a sure sign of a very SICK MIND!! You need help. Get that work space properly messy. Lotta fun getting spilled shot outta that swell carpet ain't it!! Don't ask how I know that fact. Oh .... Right ..... the OP ...... How rude of me. Cardboard Boxes. They're cheap, plentiful (sweetie shops on Amazon) and if one fills up, in a couple of days a bigger one comes along. I just wind a particular rig up on itself and drop in inna box. Simple. 15. One thing I don't recommend is a nice coat tree. They look great and they work...until you are removing a holster belt and it hooks one of the lower pegs you installed and the whole thing tips over. Nice room, by the way.

  16. I say let it go. I'm bettin we all screw up once in a while. I hope the reason for his SDQ was properly explained at the time as mine was! It's a bummer to get one, but, but hey, it's only a game. And a game that we are having fun at, not to get mad at others.

  17. I hang my rig on a wooden dowel that I picked up some place, it is a small square piece of wood with the dowel coming out of it at a angle, I buckle it and then hang it, works for me. It is hung on wall beside the gun safe, also hang the shotgun belt on it also. All for now JD Trampas

  18. No Texas teams, so I am really depressed and don't care. I may have to get a puppy to pet or just sit and look at pictures of snowflakes.

  19. I don't have any photos, but in my last home I screwed brass coat hooks into a four foot long piece of oak (three inches wide), which was attached to the wall. Held more than a dozen rigs. Started out with an old standing coat and hat rack, but I out grew that pretty quickly.

  20. First- Your reload room is the one you dream about. My holsters are left on the belt and coiled, then stored in a box or tote without a lid so air can get in. I also made wooden cylinders from 1 3/4in. hardwood dowel with a drawer pull on the end so holsters stay round. GW

  22. Howdy Raging Thunder, Let me compliment you on a terrific gun room. Because I value my gun rigs as much as my firearms I keep them in my safe. I always air them out well before putting them in the safe, remove holsters from the belts and loosely coil the belts. Not sure which would be more difficult to replace if stolen guns or rigs so I keep them both in the safe. For storage I've seen freestanding coat/hat racks and wall mount coat/hat racks work good. Hasta Luego, Keystone PS Is that a lazy susan I see in the lower right hand corner of the pic? Dang, what a room!

  23. Bea was in the kitchen fiddling around when she hollers out.... "ROLAN! You need to go out and fix the outhouse!" Rolan replies, "There ain't nuthin wrong with the outhouse." Bea yells back, "Yes there is, now git out there and fix it." So......Rolan mosies out to the outhouse, looks around and yells back, "Bea! There ain't nuthin wrong with the outhouse!" Bea replies, "Stick yur head in the hole!" Rolan yells back, "I ain't stickin my head in that hole!" Bea says, "Ya have to stick yur head in the hole to see what to fix." So with that, Rolan sticks his head in the hole, looks around and yells back, "Ma! There ain't nuthin wrong with this outhouse!" Bea hollers back, "Now take your head out of the hole!" Rolan proceeds to pull his head out of the hole, then starts yelling, "BEA ! Help! My beard is stuck in the cracks in the toilet seat!" To which Bea replies, "Hurt's, don't it ?!" And then the fight started...

  29. I personally do not believe that a dues increase or the Chronicle being eliminated, then changed to a slick magazine (that in itself alienated many members), are some reasons for members' animosity. The way those things were implemented, managed and continue to be maintained, has created an intense lack of confidence and trust in many members that pretty much cannot be fixed. Rabid, blind loyalty and snide remarks from certain members, directed at other members who complain and criticize, along with sloppy administration (such as the expired gift cards noted above), and disrespectful management statements like, "when all this blows over," have created rifts in members' trust that cannot be repaired. Some members leave and some stay, but the damage has been done and I believe the focus is no longer on legacy membership, but on newcomers, who don't know the history. BY THE WAY, in my view, limiting Forums access to paid members would be a mistake for a host of reasons.

  30. I like your style Doc, one of my favorite movies. Gotta say tho, Peter Falk's 'Max' is every bit as memorable to me. One could not have existed without the other. What a great duo. "Push the button, Max!"

  31. The Wire is a great marketing tool. Personally, I would not want to force folks that just want to visit the website to join, there are many who just look at the wire to see what's happening and it would be a disservice to shut them out. We have a few locals that shoot with us occasionally that are non-members, they were ready to join and the dues went up, that's when they decided it cost too much. The best marketing tool was the old chronicle, in the old format. Now it is gone and we have a new model, although shiny, ii's not what I prefer. The digital version is a dismal failure and few bother opening the file. SASS has dropped the ball on advertisement and marketing, and it's left up to the few of us left to pay the price for lack of members. I work pretty hard at promoting CAS, running matches, setting up matches, building stuff, etc. SASS needs to figure out how to make folks "want" to join not "have" to join. Obviously, the current marketing plan is not working, and we all need to focus on how to get new members and get old members to return. Perhaps, we should look back at the timeline when things started dropping off and learn from the mistakes made in order to improve our numbers. What happened in 2005 that caused numbers to become static? We were growing by 10k members a year in the early 2000's and now we might get 2-3k new members per year. It was a hoot watching SASS grow and meeting all the new shooters, I'd love to see those days again.

  32. I'm paid up in SASS until February of 2019. Looking to upgrade to Life but can't quite handle the one time $$ to make that jump. I did inquire a while back as to whether the $800 would be prorated with what I have already paid, the answer was yes,. I also asked if there would be a payment plan coming for Life membership and was told that option was being looked at. Apparently nothing has been implemented on that issue as it is not an option showing up. I keep checking the SASS web site in hopes of being able to spread that cost out over a few months, but nothing yet. Emails have gone unanswered as to whether a payment plan is in the works. I plan on signing our granddaughter up next month at her 1st birthday also. Sure she has a ways to go before even being able to shoot, but that's ok.
