You put beets on them.

Raw, canned, or pickled?

1) pickle on a burger is good

2) I like pickled beets

therefore, I would eat that

I won’t eat anything beet!! I’m sure that those who like them appreciate the flavor and doubtless they are healthy, but to me they taste like bad dirt!

NO THANK YOU!!

Don't know how you eat a hamburger without beetroot OR pineapple.....just wouldn't be a hamburger!!!!!

This would be a pretty typical Aussie home lunch Summer salad, except there should be (and mostly would be) more beetroot -

Am I remembering right Rye that you're granddaughter is in Tassie now? Surely she's had an Aussie hamburger with the lot now!

I like my pineapple chopped or crushed on a banana split or in a cake!!

My mom used to put crushed pineapple on a large ham when she was baking it and that wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t really necessary.

It has no place on burgers or pizza!

Beets have no place or purpose!!

I like frozen peach slices okay, but I don’t much care for them any other way.

My wife makes a small ham in the crockpot occasionally and the only ingredient she adds  is a 12 ounce (340ml) can of 7up or Sprite. We tried it with Mountain Dew and that was really good too.
@Buckshot Bear can I assume Coca Cola Company sells Sprite in Australia?
If not pretty much any Lemon-Lime carbonated soft drink will do.

Nope not me, my granddaughter is right here in Ohio and was never in Tassie wherever that is!

Pickled beets (beetroot - I guess as opposed to beet greens) on a burger sounds pretty good.  Beats the heck out of an egg, sunny side up, that has the yolk running over everything within 10 yards.

Hmmmm......chop the greens, saute with some chopped bacon and add those to the burgert too....hmmmm.......

I'd try it, but would prefer the egg not be too runny. Especially on a sandwich that thick.

OH!!  Give me that egg every time!!  A little sprinkle of salt and a good dose of black pepper and we’re in DEELUXE territory!!

If you ain’t wearing some of it when you’re done, it wasn’t really a burger!!

We don't call them from Down Under for no reason  !

This explains a lot

 where's the lettuce ?

What is that above the cheese, and between the tomato and the egg?

That white thing below the cheese - that's cauliflower, right?

..... the cheese could be any one of a number of "gourmet" varieties available ...

...... the white thing might be cold boiled cauliflower or cold mashed potato, the other white stuff looks like it might be potato salad.

Spending the coming week on Maria Island doing marine biology field work, then returning to Hobart for classroom work until July.  I'm so proud of her!!

edit:  I will ask her opinion on Aussie hamburgers and report back.

When she orders a burger in a takeaway shop make sure she asks "With the lot", that's important.

One of my sons has been to Maria Island many years ago, he still talks about how beautiful it was down there.

Be proud J-Bar and hope she's having the bestest of times mate!

We will never teach' em Bear about a good hamburger...ya' just gotta have everything on a top notch burger.!!!!

A good bread roll is a must, juicy steak, cooked onions, pineapple, beetroot, fried egg, [ lettuce & butter if ya' have a hankering ]..there's so many things to add depending on what the person likes  ]...watching a fella with a big beard is the funniest thing...usually the burger is every where except  in his mouth, well hell next thing they'll be sayin' is they don't like banana sandwiches.

Did you start this Alpo ?
