Buffalo Creek Law Dog
Gun stores are reporting huge sales of handguns due to Trudeau's recent handgun freeze announcement. The Bill hasn't passed through parliament yet, but I expect there won't be any handguns available from gun stores by next week. The gang bangers will be still be ok as the illegal gun importation from the U.S. will still be in operation. Drones are the latest in importing illegal handguns across the border. Indian Reserves in Canada that share the border with Indian Reservations in the U.S. is another popular open gate for gun smuggling. So far there is no mention of a government buyback program for handguns as there is for assault rifles. At the moment, when I pass on, my handguns will be surrendered to the government for destruction with no re numeration. If this bill passes, the dollar value of my handguns to me or my estate will be 0, zilch, nada.

Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474
The two Left Wing Parties in Canada, the NDP (New Democratic Party and the governing Liberals have joined forces. The Liberals won the most seat, during the election, but did not have a majority. Theoretically, the Opposition Parties could have defeated them in a Non-confidence vote and triggered another election. Fearing this, the Lieberal I mean Liberal and NDP joined forces, to pave the way to create a Socialist Utopia to your North. Since the Left Wing now can do what it wants, the proposed law will likely pass, barring some pretty significant protests and lobbying. They could also simply write and Order In Council (OIC) have it signed by the Governor General and make the ban law by decree, much like they have done banning the AR-15 and all it's derivatives. Is this how the law works there with respect to legally owned firearms?
Waxahachie Kid #17017 L
Seems like getting rid of this bunch is going to a long, difficult fight. The government is not my daddy, and is not God. I don't want, or need, them to run my life from cradle to grave. What's it going to take to boot this dictator out of office? The eternal choice of mortal man...to endure oppression, or to resist. Compliance among law-abiding, legal handgun owners, has been exemplary Gangsters, street and drug thugs however, are a different story but are catered to by the Liberal government, who simply ignore their activities. I agree with your summation that there is a difference in theory and in practice between free citizens lawfully owning firearms and criminals owning and using firearms and how the law applies to each and it's after effects. We know that more gun laws only negatively impact those who are not criminals as criminals by definition don't follow the law to begin with. Draconian gun laws will only further strip free law abiding citizens of their rights and have no impact on criminals. But I'm curious, what if upon your passing your guns were simply not available to be located to be turned over to the government? What then? These new laws being proposed by the left in both our countries will only serve to make potenially tens of millions of law abiding gun owners into criminals overnight. Great plan. When I was going through gunsmithing school many moons ago one of my fellow students was a Canadian Indian . He always described life on the reservation as much different than Canada. He always claimed the Canadian Indians hated the government worse than the American Indians did .
