Useless Movie Trivia

Recommended Posts

Ian Fleming lived in Jamaica.  When he was writing his first spy novel he had a book in his library and took the author's name for his spy.

Most of the villians in the Bond books were named after real people.  For example Auric Goldfinger was named after Erno Goldfinger an architest whose work Fleming abhorred.  Hugo Drax was named after Admiral Sir Reginald Aylmer Ranfurly Plunkett-Ernie-Eris-Drax.  Rosa Krebs (the villian with the knife in her shoe) was named after Hans Krebs, Hitler's last Chief of Staff.

Easter eggs are little items hidden in movies that reflect things the director wants to pay homage to.  In Raiders of the Lost Ark in the well of the souls one of the hieroglyphics on the column behind Indiana Jones is C3PO and R2D2.

And Xenia  Onatopp.

More trivia: The bizarre and shocking movie Psycho featured the first-ever toilet flush. Prior to that, it was considered a big no-no to display a toilet being flushed in a movie. This movie has caused many controversies, and the embattlements only added to the fame of the movie.

"All in the Family" did the same thing for T.V. While the audience didn't see it, you could hear it, a first for T.V. at the time.

Now this is the kind of "stuff" the Saloon should be about!!!!  Stuff that definitely affects our everyday life way more than the stupid, dumbass politicians in Washington D.C.  Keep up the good work Larsen.  "Bond, James Bond."

In this scene from The Lord of the Rings movies, at around the thirty second mark, Aragorn, played by Viggo Mortensen, kicks a helmet and lets out an anguished scream as he drops to his knees in despair. The pained scream was real. He broke two toes kicking the helmet.

In Batman Returns, Michelle Pfeiffer literally had to be vacuum-sealed into her Catwoman costume, which made it very difficult to move and breathe.Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in the "meow" sceneMichelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in the "meow" scene

Warner Bros. Pictures
She described the process as one of the most uncomfortable things she's ever done: "They had to powder me down, help me inside, and then vacuum-pack the suit. They'd paint it with a silicon-based finish to give it its trademark shine. I had those claws, and I was always catching them in things. The face mask was smashing my face and choking me."

I remember reading how Lee Child was miffed at David Baldacci for stealing his ideas...
So he had Jack Reacher pound the snot out of same villain of the same name.

I found that amusing.
