Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438
3000 rounds per minute at $30/round......that's a lot of brass to pick up and clean.......and a big ammo bill. Very impressive. LL
Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103
You'd need a cement truck for a tumbler to clean all that brass!

Pat Riot
The noise those things make us quite deafening. And very impressive. A little info on the Phalanx CIWS (Sea-Whiz) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phalanx_CIWS
Yul Lose
My oldest son served on the Thomas S. Gates Aegis missile cruiser back in the early 90’s and he told me that in some cases picking up the spent casings was very hazardous as the projectiles contained depleted uranium and you had to be properly attired and equipped to collect the spent brass. Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474
My thought was that it was pretty intense. I've been around a GE cannon in a CF-18 when it went to work. I can only imagine what several would be like.
Michigan Slim
I'm wondering whats downrange where all those shells come to ground. Kinda reminds me of Kaya at the cabin with a 1022! LOL. Money hose!

Utah Bob #35998
Not real footage. We’ve never shot down any Iran launched missiles as far as I recall. I believe that The Phalanx system is primarily for Cruise middle defense and would be relatively ineffective against the types of ballistic missiles that were used. The Patriot system is designed for that.
Sedalia Dave
OP video is nice but it is from a video game. The giveaway is the smoke and flames The first clip in the below video is the real deal. Including what appears to be one of the systems malfunctioning. Starting at 6:15 is another combat clip. Notice that in both live fire clips you can hear the rounds impacting the incoming hostile missiles / rockets.
