John Boy
If a shooter has an Accidental Discharge, do any Clubs require: * The shooter to attend a Remedial Corrective Class conducted by the Club? * If Yes, what degree of AD are they required to attend such a Remedial Class? * Who conducts the Remedial Class? * If a shooter repeats the AD, what is the Club's follow up procedure, if any? Noz
We feel that the embarrassment incurred by such a happening is enough punishment.

Lead Friend, SASS #53635
Sounds like punishment. Negative reinforcement doesn’t work with dogs and probably won’t work with cowboys.
Ace_of_Hearts
I could easily design an electronic device that fit on the barrel of the revolver that would initiate a shock if the hammer was cocked and the angle was not at least 45 degrees from the vertical. This would stop this crap in its tracks! And don't you dare drop that gun when you get shocked!

I'd tell ya what to "remediate" and go shoot a different club. The embarrassment would be MORE than enough.
El diablo gringo
Yep, saw an AD yesterday at our WB match. Shooter killed the gun horse. I believe the DQ and embarrassment should be enough. Gringo
Tn Tombstone
I love a AD that hits the target, we call that a good shot. Depending on where it hits, make the appropriate call. Next Shooter.
Eyesa Horg
I would think the embarrassment would be enough. Since it is an accident, what sort of training would prevent it from happening again. Doubt any shooter wants it to happen. Besides how many Cowboys bring a change of underwear to a match.

But on a serious note, I'd say it depends on the shooter. We have had some new shooters that have needed some extra "coaching."
Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217
I am not looking for additional ways to ridicule, humiliate, or penalize a shooter. The first thing I would suggest, if the shooter has multiple ADs, is to check the weight of the trigger pull. At one of my first few matches. I had two ADs that were not in the penalty zone. A close friend of Hubby's looked at my pistols and told Hubby that he needed to tighten up the trigger pull weight.
Assassin
If they shoot a table or prop it must be signed and dated by them with a sharpie.
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474
We do not refer to them as ADs (Accidental Discharges) but as NGs (Negligent Discharges) and we consider it a very serious matter, reflecting careless/negligent gun handling. A round over the berm, for example, is a match DQ as is a round impacting within 10 feet of the shooter. In a country as un-gun friendly as we now have in Canada, we feel we must be pretty careful about things or we will find our ranges closed for a long investigation.
