Subdeacon Joe
Sunday and weekday, hands down was Rick O'Shay. Great story lines and impeccable artwork. A close second was Peanuts. Did the Silly Putty thing a couple of times, but usually didn't have any.
Pat Riot
Hands down it was “B. C.”. That was the first one I went to in the Funny Pages. I also bought a couple of books full of B. C. Comics. B.C. was written by Johnny Hart and he started creating them in 1958 for newspapers. I had to look this up. 3 2
Rye Miles #13621
As a kid I loved Lil Abner, Dick Tracy, BC, and Peanuts. There was more that I’m not recalling at the moment but I read all the comics. Edited January 13 by Rye Miles #13621

Cactus Jack Calder
I’m surprised no one has mentioned Pogo the Possum. Even when I was to young to understand the satire I knew he was funny. I especially liked the Turtle (Churchy?). “Friday the 13th falls on a Saturday this month.” CJ Edited January 13 by Cactus Jack Calder Missing word #@$& OTTO. That’s my story and I’m sticking too it! 1

Not sure when they started appearing in newspapers. I just found it. They started in newspapers in 1979. The year i joined the Navy. I don’t recall seeing the Far Side until ‘83. I didn’t see many newspapers aboard ship. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Far_Side
