Rooster Ron Wayne Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 I just picked up two Black Ruger Wranglers at the gun show today. 199.98 each . I bought them for my Grandsons to shoot with there Henry Lever Action Rifles . A little too heavy of a hammer spring for the Grandkids. But with the grips pulled off . It looks like a Single Six spring kit should drop right in . Should be years of fun for the Grandkids and two at a cheaper cost then One Single Six .
watab kid Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 i like em , i think you got a great price on quality pieces that should serve your grandsons well .
Navy Davey Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I bought a pair to practice with. Will the new vaquero springs work to reduce the hammer pull
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 I bought a pair to practice with. Will the new vaquero springs work to reduce the hammer pull That's what I need to do for the Grandkids. They got strong hammer springs in them for sure.
Bull Skinner Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Rooster I put Wolf springs in mine. As I recall the 17 lb hammer and 30 oz trigger springs. They set off all the brands of 22s without a glitch. Part # 17116 contains the 2 mentioned plus a stouter cylinder pin spring.

Rooster Ron Wayne Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Wolff Single Six 15# hammer springs and for young one’s I would go 40 oz trigger springs. Interested minds who wants to know . One at a time , I cut one ring off the hammer spring . Then I put back together and tried the gun . I ended up cutting off six ( 6 ) rings off. And left One leg off the trigger spring. Wow ! What a difference it made . I have No scale to measure by . But I ended up with a pretty nice hammer draw and a decent trigger pull . Best part . No extra money spent . So if you didn't know . Now you know
watab kid Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 we cant buy them in this state - i would love a pair , the alloy composition makes them illegal here
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 we cant buy them in this state - i would love a pair , the alloy composition makes them illegal here That sucks ! They are the best new inexpensive .22's in the game today . I see them only going up in retail cost .
Silver Creek Jack Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 How do these compare to the Ruger Bearcat in size? Thanks- SCJ
PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 How do these compare to the Ruger Bearcat in size? Thanks- SCJ The Wranglers are the same frame/grip size as the Single Six.
The Rainmaker, SASS #11631 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Alloy construction makes them illegal for sale in one of our UNITED STATES of AMERICA??? What are we coming to? Garbage! Nice little pistols!
Scrub Oak Willie 53737 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I think the premise is that they can be melted down after they are used in a crime , same thing for some Heritage firearms. Willie
July Smith Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 How do you guys insure an empty chamber is under the hammer on 22s? I've got a Ruger Bearcat and a few up and coming Buckaroos/ettes and honestly the hard part for them is making sure they load one skip one properly. I have debated about simply waiting until they can candle light 38 loads.
Rocky Dog Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 wow those altamont stag grips look awesome... good looking great plinking fun...

The Rainmaker, SASS #11631 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Kalifornica... tooey! My mistake... Minnesota. Got some real winner politicos there too. Sorry for ya.
Abe E.S. Corpus SASS #87667 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 How do you guys insure an empty chamber is under the hammer on 22s? One method is to mark the exterior of the cylinder (a dot of paint or whiteout) on both sides of the “designated” empty chamber. One shooter stuffed a yellow foam plug into the chamber. When the gun is loaded the marks should flank the top strap.
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 How do you guys insure an empty chamber is under the hammer on 22s? I have no idea how SASS would approve of this with recessed cylinder chambers . But I have NO intention of using them for SASS . Just Sayin. Rooster
Assassin Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I have no idea how SASS would approve of this with recessed cylinder chambers . But I have NO intention of using them for SASS . Just Sayin. Rooster Wranglers aren't the only pistols with recessed cylinders. We've dealt with recessed cylinders since SASS started. It's not rocket science. Just mark the empty. Many frontiersman will remove a nipple or paint the nipple to show the empty. I have an old Super Blackwack that is recessed, EAA single actions, and several others.

I would recommend not teaching anyone the load one, skip one, lower the hammer and blow a hole in the loading table technique. Seen it too many times.

Seen it too many times. How do you recommend loading a revolver? I have always loaded one, skipped, loaded four and then eased the hammer down visually making sure it is going on an empty.
Blast Masterson Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 On the Wrangler you just load five rounds close the gate and turn the cylinder back slightly to lock it and you're good to go.

I have always loaded one, skipped, loaded four and then eased the hammer down visually making sure it is going on an empty. Load five, gently spin the cylinder, checking for high primers or other problems, then visually turn cylinder until empty chamber aligns with hammer and lower hammer gently.
