Warm weather shirts

No this will not be another thread discussing alternative dress codes, short sleeve shirts, etc.  When I searched for warm weather shirts it seems every thread was about that stuff.

So - aside from the Cowboy Cooler shirts, is there another long sleeve button down/collared shirt that people like?  I own a Columbia shirt that I've worn fishing and hiking, but it definitely has a more "modern" look to it.

Just looking for ideas of comfortable "performance fabric" type of shirts that are long sleeve and button down with a collar.  Thanks

I have tried all kinds of shirts including the one mentioned in your post.  What I have found works best, especially here in the desert, is a lightweight 100% cotton shirt.

+1, white or off white, looser fitting the better.

Mrs. Lose took a trip to Ireland last year and brought me back a couple of shirts, Henley collar type, made by Emerald Isle Weavers, 100% cotton and quite comfortable in warmer weather.

I have found the cooler cowboy shirts don't work really well down here with very high humidity and little to no wind,

I've been wearing 100% cotton shirts.

Like Jerry Reed said - when it's hot it's hot.

I vote for no shirts .😃

If you're not trying to hit a specific costume requirement some of the Wrangler competition (think 'rodeo') shirts are comfortable and kind of stretchy.

Lived in the Mojave Desert for 28yrs.

Wow, ordered the shirt yesterday when I posted and it was on my doorstep all the way from China at 6:45am this morning.  Dose der ChiComs is quick!  Very lightweight nice looking shirt.  It is supposed to be 114 this weekend so if I don't chicken out I may get to try it at this weekend's shoot.

I have no housekeeping skills.  When I do the laundry everything goes in the same load.  I always wash new clothes.  After I washed and dried the shirt in a load of other stuff and noticed a remarkable change I noticed a small tag saying "Do not tumble dry."  Believe it.  I now have a nice shirt for my Pomeranian.

My favorite shirts are from Inter American Trading Company.

Inter-American Trading Co is a wholesaler. I bought my shirts through a SASS vendor many years ago and they have all held up well.  If I could find another vendor with these shirts I might be tempted to buy one or two.  Unfortunately, I can't find an online vendor.

This may be easier for us LOCAS.  I look everywhere I go for lightweight blouses in natural fabrics (silk, cotton, linen, muslin) with long sleeves.  I'd rather wear a long-sleeved shirt (loosely fitted - nothing tight) than load up on sunscreen - it just seems to hold the heat in.

They dry quickly without the dryer. Lol buy another one and try again.

Those look very much like the Otavalo Mountain Shirts from J. Peterman.  I have a couple that I bought some years ago for about $25 when they had a sale and free shipping.  Every time I've seen them since they are very expensive (like everything else in their catalog). https://jpeterman.com/products/otavalo-mountain-shirt-new

+1 for the J. Peterman Otavalo Mountain Shirt..

Like Abilene, I bought some shirts from J. Peterman (Don't remember the style) several years ago when Allie Mo brought them to my attention.

And they were not as pricey.
Nice shirts tho.

Can't teach an old dog new tricks.  Wash - dry.  That is how it works.  I ordered a new one but in a larger size.  Hopefully this one will fit me when it dries.  The dog and I will look like twins.  I am down sixty bucks.  Hope this one works.

Ellie did that to a new wool sweater ions ago! Didn't check the label, washed and dried. It would have been tight on a Chihuahua!!

100% cotton is the best. Breathes and stays cool.

Round 2.  Larger shirt arrived early this AM.  Washing it in "cold" water which this time of the year is often hotter than the water coming out of the hot water heater.  Next it will go in the dryer on delicate setting.  That is as far as I am willing to go.

Well seems to have come out OK.  Ordered a couple of sizes larger and tried it on.  Almost usable around my bowling pin shaped physique as a little extra material to flap in the wind is no big deal.  BUT the sleeves were way to long.  Washed and ran in the dryer for 40 minutes on delicate.  Fits about right and the sleeves are now OK.  If I do not chicken out or get heat stroke before Sunday I will try it out at Cowtown this weekend.
