You ever stop at a crosswalk to let pedestrians cross and have them look at you in astonishment? I have. Not lately, but I still remember it. 4 1 Quote
Eyesa Horg Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Yes! I've also gotten bad looks for holding a door! But I've also gotten a huge thank you for helping an elderly woman push her cart and put her groceries in the car and return the cart. I always return the cart! 3 1 Quote

Alpo Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Book I read one time. They took an office chair, and they took the seat off of the shaft. They removed the hard bottom of the seat - the piece underneath the cushion. And they took the shaft and cut it at an angle so it came up to a point. Then they set the seat back on the shaft and went on there merry way, happy in the knowledge that eventually the guy that lived there would go into his office and plop down in his chair. 1 1 3 Quote

Alpo Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 I don't hear that picture. I recognize that picture - it's what we call a playground ball when I was in elementary school. But I don't hear it. This one I hear. 1 1 2 Quote
Cypress Sun Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Looks like a kickball to me. I don't associate that ball with any particular sound. 1 Quote

Aside from the "slap" when it hit your cheek at 50mph! Problem (probably) too dangerous today and banned. Edited January 26, 2024 by Eyesa Horg Fricken otto 4 2 Quote

Dodge ball if you get hit in the head with one it makes a very distinctive sound. If you played dodge ball as a kid you would also have a appreciation for the movie 5 Quote
Alpo Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 We play dodgeball in elementary school, but it wasn't anything like the stuff I've seen on TV. Everybody got in a circle. One guy in the middle. Somebody had a ball. He threw it at the guy in the middle, who attempted to dodge it. If the ball missed somebody on the other side of the circle caught the ball and now he threw it at the guy in the middle. This continued until the guy in the middle got hit. The guy that threw the ball that hit the guy in the middle now goes into the middle and the guy in the middle goes out to the circle. And I saw a South Park episode 20-some years back, where they had two teams and everybody on the team had a ball. And then there was the movie, which I never saw but based on the trailers it was the same as the South Park thing. Never played it that way. 1 1 Quote
Rip Snorter Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Where I played. Two sides of a basketball court, two teams, variable numbers of balls in play. If you were hit, you were out. You could deflect a ball with a ball and not be out. The team with remaining member(s) won. 3 1 Quote
