Widder, SASS #59054 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 To garnish a perfectly good, tasteful dish of grits and shrimp with....... onions. YUK! ..........Widder
Tyrel Cody Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Agree on the onions, but grits? Only thing grits are good for is BP filler
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 Hey Tyrel, I plan to be at Wartrace on Sat. I hope you are also. I'll be bringing the new toy. ..........Widder
Tyrel Cody Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Good Lord willing, me and Mustang Lewis will be there.
Subdeacon Joe Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Why would anyone mess up good shrimp by smothering them with hot sand?
DocWard Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 If I am in the mood for grits, I prefer mine plain with a bit of butter. Never cared for them until Basic Training, then developed a bit of a taste for them.
Jackson Rose, SASS #45478 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I make shrimp and grits with diced tomatoes, onions and green peppers, with a lot of cayenne.

Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Grits... good with redeye gravy. Otherwise, I'm with Tyrel ~ filler.
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 I bet some of you'uns don't even like fried Okra. ..........Widder
Calico Mary Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Okra? taint that that wun rich wimmen on tv who's really annoyin'??
Yul Lose Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I used to work at a dude ranch in Colorado during the summer when I was a teenager and the couple that owned the ranch were from south Texas. Every morning we had to eat a bowl of grits before we could eat the pancakes or French toast or bacon and eggs and such. To this day I cannot stand grits because of that breakfast regiment.
Jess Money Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 To garnish a perfectly good, tasteful dish of grits and shrimp with....... onions. YUK! ..........Widder Try grits and mudbugs for a change, Widder. Much jucier and spicer than shrimp.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Good Lord willing, me and Mustang Lewis will be there. That in itself should scare the bejeebers out of the law enforcement in town.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Why would anyone mess up good shrimp by smothering them with hot sand? I'm wit Joe.
Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Hey Tyrel, I plan to be at Wartrace on Sat. I hope you are also. I'll be bringing the new toy. ..........Widder Widder, tell the good folks at Wartrace that Birdgun from Arizona says "Howdy." I had my first CAS match at Wartrace with two cowboys that were having their first CAS match also. Those two hombres are: Grey Horse and Randy Saint Eagle. Will Reilly was our posse marshal. Miss having an after match dinner at Bell Buckle Cafe.
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 Birdgun, those Hombres are still kickin and shootin up the town every chance they get. I see Randy quite often. I shot with Will once this summer. He was at the loading table, getting all serious and such like it was the World Championship. You know how that look is on his face. Anyhow, I leaned over and said: "Will, this stage is the kind of stage where Legends are born. If you ace this stage, you'll be a Legend from here to Texas before the sun goes down. But if not, nobody will care who you are". I swear, I think the old feller was gona start laughin out loud. He jacked out a round on that stage and when he got to the loading table, he was still smilin and I said: "Well, there goes your Legendary status". Will is a good man and I always enjoy shooting with him. And there ain't NOBODY in SASS that is probably more fun to shoot with than Randy St. Eagle. Great guy and a great Ambassador in our sport/game. I'll pass along your 'HOWDY'. ..........Widder
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Only thing grits are good for is BP filler Same thing my wife sez. OLG
J-BAR #18287 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Your wife is correct. You obviously have not tasted my wife's garlic and cheese grits casserole. Better than a baked potato!
Noz Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I make shrimp and grits with diced tomatoes, onions and green peppers, with a lot of cayenne. That's an excellant recipe that is totally ruined by the green peppers.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 No offense, J Bar, but I doubt that anyone can do anything to grits that would make me like them. But, like many things in life, I have eaten them, but I do not like them. End of story.
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I bet some of you'uns don't even like fried Okra. ..........Widder ..... or any other kind of okra. Hog feed.

Bugs Bonney SASS # 10171 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I always found grits tasteless. I thought they were just there to get the melted butter to your mouth without dirtying up a spoon.
