Here's one of me back in the day. When I was a Nukie. Yes, that's a Barret .50 semi auto!   ( M82A1) It was AWESOME to Shoot!

Nice rig!.  The largest caliber I have is a 375 H&H. Now my favorite is 22 LR.

A two-year old Pietta 1851 Navy .36 that is perfect just as it came out of the box.  Arbor length, wedge fit, bolt-to-notch fit, timing, barrel-cylinder gap, zero end shake; and it shoots to point of aim.   All perfect.  The first Italian percussion clone I have owned in 21 years that I don't have to fiddle with.

 

Time to buy a lottery ticket.

All 6 chambers at 7 yards.  21 grains of FFG under a .375 ball.  It was freezing that day and I was just testing whether it would shoot, so I did not try it at longer range.  Maybe after the Vernal Equinox!

How about some of my hunting rifles. First is a sporterized 1903 Springfield I've had for 70 years . I made the Maple stock. Next is a custom .220 Ackley Improved Swift, I also made this stock. Next is a .257 Weatherby and last a Number 1 Ruger in .300 Weatherby. I hunt with them all.

Pat, two questions.

 

Did you put an original grip frame on the new vaquero because you prefer the xr3 red grip to the xr3 grip?

Beautiful guns. The wood stocks are elegant. Good taste on the scopes too---I put Leupold on all but one my hunting rifles.  they are excellent for hunting due to the weight and generous FOV.    Here are two of mine.   Blaser R8 in 30-06 and a Sako 85 Brown Bear in 375 H&H.   Haven't used them for years in hunting---now I switch to guns with chassis because they are more versatile and lighter.

Seriously? How can the same thing happen to me too and luckily I got some pictures before taking all my guns to my friend’s boat.

Pretty sure it’s the XR3 grip. I never cared for the Colt SAA grip which they tried to emulate with the New Vaquero. I have XXL hands. I like the larger grip frame and I have to say I like the RNV with the larger grip. I also figured out that because of the geometry of the revolver frame and the grip frame one must use a 23# main spring to get a reliable primer strike yet the hammer cocking pressure is less than the factory grip and 17# main spring pressure. Like all my Ruger SA’s I use a 40oz trigger spring. The gun is a wonderful shooter now. A few yesrs back i dumped 2 New Vaqueros because i got sick of the way they felt when i shot them.

it is a Hong Kong C&E gun. Customs and Excise department of Hong Kong. 
I bought it from Cabela’s Gun Library. The gun itself looked brand new but had some beat up grip panels. I have a feeling that when it came time to send it back to the US someone swapped grip panels. I put Altamont Service Panels on it to dress it up a bit. I also put a BK Grip Adapter on it (not shown in the photo above)

Love this gun. It rides great in that Aviator / Tanker holster on hikes, hunting and fishing.

How you like that BK? Plastic instead of aluminum, and $25 instead of around $100. And they actually send it to you when you order one I hear. It looks good.

I've been thinking about one.

I really like them. They are plastic, but they have a slight texture. They’re not slick and smooth. They have two clips to hold them in place vs one.

I love the looks of that Sako 85. Very nice. 
I have always had a thing for “African big game” rifles. I couldn’t do one now though. The recoil and I wouldn’t get along.

I don’t consider them a “collection”. I shoot them all. 

 

Thank you. I like them as well. I used to have more Vaqueros, but, well, let’s just say I kept the two i liked most. I no longer shoot cowboy action. They are now part of my .45 fun guns. I also have a .45 ACP cylinder for the New Vaquero.
