  1. That too would be ruined… Over heard at a dueling match: 1. “The target is too far away. We need the targets closer!” 2. “Well, if you want to win you need an original maker pistol slicked up by Mad Mac McSingleshot. Not one of those Chinese clones.” 3. “These garments are too heavy.” 4. “These garments are too light.” 5. “He’s using loads that are outside rule parameters. I can tell. 6. “The sun is always in my eyes at these matches. That’s why I never win.” 6. “These aren’t sunglasses! These are Transitions lenses. There’s a difference!” 7. “Hey, he’s not using mouse fart loads! That stung!” 8. “Why can’t we use rifles? This is two to three times the distance of rifle targets in regular matches! 9. “They didn’t wear protective gear in 1880. Why do we need it now?” 10. “They need to restrict this to .32 caliber maximum. Those .45 caliber wax bullets are too much.” 11. “I want his wax formula tested. I think he’s using straight paraffin. That was banned!” 12. “I am tired of these wax gamers. We need a standard formula!” 13. “I think he’s opened his primer pockets too far and he’s using magnum primers. This is unfair! We need standards for primer pocket hole sizes.” 14. “I remember when this game was fun. The Gamers took over and ruined it!” 15. “Hey! Short people have an advantage! Their targets are closer so they have a better hit ratio. We need standardized dueling distances!” Otto sux!

  2. Thanks pards one and all for the suggestions, but the boss was having none of that "Please can I have exactly what I had before" ....... Turned down the insert shank to a thou oversize - Test fitting for a friction fit - Parted off - Had to hand file off the nub that I always get from parting off, the piece being so tiny was a problem to hold so I used some masking tape and to get it in place and then sandwiched between some wood offcuts and after filing gave it a polish - Looking good - Used some Loctite 638 Retaining Compound, along with the friction fit I hope that it stays in place. At least if it doesn't I know I can make another one now......and back on the barrel -

  4. Boy! I bet they were thrilled! The Living Liberty Bell formed by 25,000 soldiers, 1918. These are the Bell's dimensions in feet: Length of beam at top, 368. Width of Bell at bottom, 64. Length of each bolt, 395. Width of beam, top to bottom, 435. Total length, top to bottom, 580. Due to effecting and perspective, there are more than eleven times as many men in the beam as in as in the Bell itself.

  6. well I forgot my pants and misplaced an SKB which turned out I had left in Louisiana. RRR bought a new gun safe that fit in the back of his truck. We had to go to Lowe and get a saw, blades and batteries to saw it open as the keys were in Baton Rouge. TB slept outside 3 nights as the other guy sharing a bedroom had a bad cough and was very loud. somebody left their pistols in the rent house and we had to get them before we could start that day. we had another buddy whose ammo he purchased at the match caused him 9 misses. and another pal had some powder ignite from an old charge in a cap and ball pistol at the loading table when he was clearing the cylinder. i ejected two live rounds from my rifle and had to make them up. I bought two pair of 357s and have now decided to shot 45s. We all had a fantastic time and great memories. and I found my pants !! Irish ☘️ Pat

  7. Best night’s sleep either of us has had in a month or more!! No nurses waking either of us up to take our vitals! No sitting around, worrying about how the other is doing! Back to sleeping in our own bed!! The coffee pot was on when I came into the kitchen, (I don’t drink it, but it’s part of the normal morning around here)! There was real food to be had for breakfast! I don’t have to load up and drive to the hospital!! There’s still a lot of recovery to get done, but… and y’all are the ones to thank for it!!

  8. I did a marathon of loading today, getting ready for the summer's matches. I dislike loading indoors in summer, when I could be outside. With a single stage press, it left me with a tired arm, but I almost have enough prepared for the '73 rifle and the Rugers. .45 Cowboy Specials with a 200 grain LRNFPBB over a minimum .45 ACP charge of Titegroup, (Since that's what I could get) and ,45 Colt with a charge of the near last of my TB. under a 250 grain LRNFPBB. Never any doubt if/when I hit the steel! Since Arthur has affected my knees and hands, any resemblance of speed is now a joke, so I try for a Clean Match. In fact, my single stage times are about what a lot of folks shoot total time for the entire match!! But I have fun with a lot of great pards!

  10. Only in the classic category that requires a caliber starting with a 4 or larger. There will also be a break down of categories based off of BMI, can't have those skinny guys getting a competitive edge over the rest of us.

  12. Because the concave shape of the crater forms a ‘gravity lens’ that gathers and focuses gravitational force. The only reason there are meteors at all is because of these gravity lenses pulling rocks off the surfaces of other moons and planets. ETA: That’s why larger craters have larger meteorites — they pull larger rocks.

  15. Buy a small real gold bead pierced ear earring. Cheap, never tarnish, you can drill or just glue. They generally come in pairs so you have a spare.

  16. Straight out of the EOT 2024 Shooter's Book: End of Trail Shooters! We have an "End of Trail Only" stage convention that is important for you to know regarding shooter "stance". Our stage language "At The Ready" means, if no starting position is given the shooter may be in an athletic "ready" posture, with hands not touching guns or ammo. The shooter does not have to start a stage stranding upright with hands at their sides unless specifically stated in the stage description. Other stance instructions will always apply (hands at low surrender, touching revolvers, Rifle in Hand, etc...). This convention applies at End of Trail Only and does not change SASS rules at other SASS sanctioned matches.

  17. Rifle at the ready. For me. Ready is on the shoulder pointed at the target. There. I'm ready. If that's not what you want. Then say it in the instructions.

  18. HOME AT LAST!!!! It took two plus hours to get her released!! All the paperwork and getting instructions from two separate therapists and the case manager took nearly an hour and then she had to wait on people to finally get around to gathering up her stuff and get her into the obligatory wheelchair for the ride to the front door for another hour!! Of all things, she decided that she wanted KFC for lunch on the way home!! She said that it’s the best chicken she’s had in a month!! There’s STILL a ways to go before she is really back to par, but she’s ecstatic to be home with her dog and her stuff!

  19. Sorry about the delay in getting an update posted. I adjusted the bolt timing of one of the revolvers as Mr Pettifogger suggested. After working with the snap caps as described above, I took both revolvers to the range and ran about 75 rds through each. The revolver with the adjusted bolt timing performed flawlessly while I had 4 FTF due to over rotation on the other revolver. With that done I'll perform the same adjustment on the malfunctioning revolver and I think that should do it. FWIW, I did indeed remove a VERY tiny amount of the bolt surface as suggested, expecting that I might have to come back and remove more. I felt like what I did was more polishing with a hard extra fine honing stone than anything else. That was all that was necessary with that revolver. Thanks a ton for all your comments and suggestions.

  20. I had a Mexican truck driver drop a trailer off in front of my house blocking my driveway in Hawthorne, CA back in 1985. I heard the noise of the trailer being dropped and unhooked around 07:00. As I went out the front door he was driving away in his tractor. He looked back at me because I was yelling at him. He kept going. Lucky me. A Hawthorne Police Detective lived right across the street. Within 45 minutes the Police had the trailer towed away and impounded for investigation. The driver actually came back to my house to ask where his trailer went. What a moron. I came very close to punching his lights out, but I did as the police asked and had my wife call them while I talked to him in the front yard. It turned out to be nothing more than a stupid man hauling machine parts to one of the Aerospace companies nearby. He needed to drop his trailer because he couldn’t deliver until Monday. This was a Saturday. The police released the trailer the next week. The driver was a new US citizen. I guess he learned he wasn’t in Mexico any longer and he got to experience the joys of the CA Unemployment Office.

  22. Kids can think and talk long before they can read. A person has to be taught to read. It's hard to imagine in this day and age, but universal literacy is a fairly recent phenomenon. Even as recently as WW1 some recruits couldn't read.
