DukeSoprano
I use to make grips for 1911s. My new found love of Single Action revolvers and having all the tools I need, made me want to try my hand at a set of grips for my American Western Arms Thunderer. I wanted 1 piece (Actually 3 pieces glued together) I bought some resin ivory blanks from: https://guitarpartsandmore.com/index.php I learned a lot, I should of made the grips oversized and then fit them to the gun for one. I should of known that trying to clamp both halves together wouldn't work very well with clamps when the epoxy was drying etc....... I should of had a place to set the gun while the epoxy was drying rather than finding a hole in my desk. But I have to admit, I am happy with how they turned out! H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
very very nice. For some reason, I think ivory looks "better" with silver colored guns than blue ones.

Warden Callaway
Good looking grips. I've made a couple of one-piece walnut grips for a pair of 1960 Armys. Took me a long time working 15-30 minutes a day. I bought the 1860 Armys and one have adequate grips but the other's grips were awful. I didn't want to just make one and then the other wouldn't match.
Captain Bill Burt
That site sells grips like that for 1911s. Once they’re back in stock I will by a set. For the price it’s a bargain. Unfortunately they don’t sell them for Cowboy guns, or I would buy two sets. Edited January 10 by Captain Bill Burt
Dusty Sights, SASS # 2782
DukeSoprano, those are some very nice grips! I certainly can appreciate the time and effort you put into creating them! My son gave me some Oak slabs to make a one-piece grip for my Colt SAA years ago. I'm happy the way they came out! Captain Bill Burt, I too am keeping an eye on those 1911 grips from guitarpartsandmore! Very nice!
Griff
While they may not have the same allure as those, nor the gratifying satisfaction of having done 'em my self, a set of Hogue poly-ivory kept me from ruining a perfectly good set of blanks! 😁 But... oh to have a set of ivories on my 1851s!!!
