Turquoise Bill, SASS #39118
Lone Spur Jake of Chino Valley Arizona passed away on Monday April 29th. I have shot with Lone Spur since I moved out here to Arizona 15 years ago. We traveled down to the Phoenix area 2-3 times a month to shoot with the Arizona Cowboy Shooters Association and at Cowtown as well as his home club up here in Prescott, Whiskey Row Gunslingers. Lone Spur was known for always shooting clean, and on top of the SASS rules. I already miss my pard! Here is a Cowboy Psalm I saved from many years ago, So long Jake! Dear God, only You know when I'll reach the end of my trail, So I want you to know I'm grateful. A hundred times I've been thrown by life And a hundred times You've lifted me back in the saddle. Every morning I see Your smile in the sunrise over the prairie And taste Your breath in the sage on the wind. You put the aches in my bones at sunset to remind me that I'm still alive, And the stars in the midnight sky to keep me humble. I know that You love me. When I've thirsted You've been my drink And Your words have been my bread. You catch me when I tangle my spurs, You keep me from taking the crooked path. You gave Your Son for my immortal soul. And I know, Lord, that when I am judged You won't care how long I stayed on– But how well I rode. ©Copyright2002 Boston John Doucette TB Edited May 5 by Turquoise Bill, SASS #39118 3

Cholla
What??? I just talked to him at the gun show in PV last month! Man, I hate to hear this. For the longest time I thought his alias meant he was a turkey hunter but then I realized it was most likely a play on the Jack Elam character in Support Your Local Sheriff. Bummer. Tex Wilson
I've shot with Lone Spur Jake with the Whiskey Row Gunslingers from Prescott and the Granite Mountain Outlaws from Chino Valley. Every Thursday I would join him and all of his pards for our weekly cowboy breakfast at Zeke's Eatin' Place in Prescott. Lone Spur Jake was a very good shooter who always shot clean. He gave me many good tips as a new cowboy shooter when I was starting out and he was also very knowledgeable about many types of firearms. I will miss him, RIP pard.
