  1. I prefer the coordinators throw your name (or badge) into a bucket and draw from there to start the bracket (whether it is the top 16 or everyone). Having shooters draw a numbered chip for the bracket works well too. I really, really, do not care for the coordinator taking the top shooters and pairing them up based on how they finished overall. I can’t speak for everyone, but I believe that is the consensus, based on responses when this started up a number of years ago at a major match.
  2. Oh we can’t let that go unfixed! I’ll be sure to add that category to the application today. Thanks, Joe.
  3. Blackout at Bloody Basin and Road Runner Dust-up (Feb 10-12, 2023) This is a great opportunity to warm-up for the 2023 End of Trail (EOT) match, as the Arizona Cowboy Shooting Association (ACSA) matches are held at the same location as EOT (Ben Avery Shooting Facility). Blackout at Bloody Basin is the Arizona SASS State Black Powder match. The Road Runner Dust-up match is for the smokeless shooters. This is a combined 12-stage action-packed match with 6 stages on each day (Feb 11th and 12th). Side matches are on Feb. 10th. 136 max shooters, so be sure to sign up! Our goal is to provide an EOT-like experience for every shooter! STAGING: The permanent bays (Saloon, Fort, Coosie’s) and open bays will be used, much like the set up for EOT. Use of vertical staging, target placement, falling targets for pistol and/or rifle, and shooting sequences will be similar as well. INCLUDED in FEE: Main Match, Side Matches, and Sunday Lunch. APPLICATION: Go to the ACSA website for details and the application.: Blackout at Bloody Basin and Road Runner Dust-up

  5. The control went FROM one hand to the other. In the Dudley example, he was still "holding" the revolver with the left hand and it never moved FROM one hand to the other.
  6. Here's a different example that would warrant a SDQ as a traditional style shooter, as the control is going from one hand to the other. Shooter draws their right pistol with right hand holding the grip, cocks the hammer with their left thumb, then switches the grip from their right hand to their left hand, and then fires all 5 rounds.
  7. Words, words, words .... they are highly overrated. LOL "A cocked revolver may never leave a shooters hand, including from one hand to the other. This does not apply when loading or reloading on the firing line." This is a tricky statement, with the key word being "from." So, examples and discussion to clarify such rules is very helpful. With that, Branchwater Jack is one of the best RO Instructors out there and I am sure folks really enjoy his instructional videos. Name one RO Instructor (or anyone else) who hasn't stated a rule incorrectly. I'm giving Banchwater Jack a buy on this one. Keep up the great videos, Jack!
