My son got me this beauty at the Gibson store in Nashville. It’s not a Gibson but she plays real nice. It’s an Epiphone Casino

Very nice! Nothing wrong with an Epiphone. My Epiphone Les Paul has some minor differences from it’s Gibson brothers, but for most of us, we wouldn’t notice unless pointed out.

What caliber is it?

Thanks for posting this.  I didn't know that Epiphone made such top end guitars.  I always thought they were cheapies.  Have fun with it!

They are a cheaper version of the Gibson 335. This is a Casino model. They used to be top notch but they’re Gibsons lower line. I believe it’s made in China! There’s a Epiphone factory there, oh well, . It plays and sounds great!

Theres a USA made Epiphone Casino but it’s waay more than what this one costs!

So wonderful for you.
In 1963 my first guitar was the exact same as yours...
My instructor parted with it and I picked it up.
It was dialed in to perfection, and the best player I ever owned in a six string.
And then it got stolen.

The insurance replaced it with a Gibson 335 that sucked canal water.
It had a neck like a tree trunk, and was awful to play.
To this day, I think about that Casino every now and again... and it's been 60 years...

That's a really beautiful guitar and I bet she sounds fantastic! What a great gift!

The 335 got mentioned, but the Casino's counterpart would be the ES-330 as they are complete hollow bodies, hence the trapeze tailpiece, and the neck joining the body at the 16th fret. Also the P90s do sound quite brighter than humbuckers. Just different guitars for different purposes.

The 330 and the Casino are not complete hollow bodies. They’re considered semi hollow bodies. I’m not sure what you mean. The 335 is also a semi hollow body.

Thanks for the compliment on the guitar though.;)

Rye, If your son gave the guitar to you in Nashville and you are still here come to Wartrace this Sat for a match. If he gave it to you and got it in Nashville it might be a long commute. Nice guitar

My son’s friend brought it back from Nashville, he was visiting my son.

Go down for the Tennessee  State Championship. Great shoot and only an hour south of Nashville. Lots of Ohio folk shooting there to keep you company.

Turn on the "Voice Memo" app on your phone.  Play a few bars and post the memo here on the wire.  I think it will post as an MP3 file.

We would love to hear you!

Well I don’t have an amp for it yet. Not much sound without an amp!

I’ll post something when I get it together.

Many of the Epiphone guitars are made in the same plant where the Gibsons are made.  My Epiphone Les Paul had absolutely stunning tone!!  We set it up for slide and usually turned it to “E” or to DADACE.  Mark, my guitar playing partner loved the tone through his Kendrick JoyZee and his Marshall Plexi!!

A friend of mine who works in the Gibson Custom Shop says that some of the US Epiphones have Gibson circuitry!

Yes the US Epiphones are great and a premium price. My Epiphone Casino was made in S.Korea or China. Gibson has a factory in those countries. The original Casinos were made here and played by many famous artists.

I had a beautiful Epiphone Johnny A that I sold to buy a Fender Player Telecaster to play through my Fender Deluxe Reverb Custom Amp. The Johnny A had awesome '57  Classic pickups. I still have my Epiphone Hummingbird acoustic guitar. That is a beautigful Casino, you'll love it.

"Cheapies" describes my acoustic Harmony Cremona, vintage 1963.  $61.00 with a 10% off coupon.  We wuz pore y'know.

I saved up and bought a used Selmer tenor sax which only cost $400 including a Golden Tone mouth piece and a bunch of accessories including reeds, pads, lube, and a real leather carrying case.  I sold it 15 years later for $850.00.
